  • Patent number: 8456453
Abstract: A computer system which includes one or more wireless interface devices that are adapted to communicate with a remote host over a radio link. Each of the wireless interface devices is a pen-based device which includes an ink field in which pen events are translated into pen data packets and transmitted to the remote host over the radio link. Local inking is provided at the wireless interface device in order to maintain the pen paradigm in essentially real time.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 2010
Date of Patent: June 4, 2013
Assignee: Warren & Lewis Investment Corporation

  • Patent number: 6262719
Abstract: A pen-based portable personal computer can emulate the functions of a standard two-button mouse. In particular the system can emulate standard movement and clicking of a mouse buttons as well as emulate both left and right mouse buttons of a two-button mouse. In order to be compatible with various application programs, the system can also emulate the double clicking of the mouse button.

  • Patent number: 6137473
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wireless interface device and more particularly to a wireless interface device for interfacing with a host computer connected in either a wired or wireless local area network. Once a connection is made between the wireless interface device and a host computer, the host computer is under the control of the wireless interface device. In order to provide a convenient way to return control back to the host computer, a hot icon is provided on the wireless interface device which, in response to a pen-down event, automatically returns the control back to the host computer.

  • Patent number: 6018806
Abstract: A computer system includes a flash memory device for storing BIOS code. The BIOS code is stored in an unprotected area of the flash memory. A boot block, stored in a protected area of the flash memory, is used for rebooting the computer system in the event that the flash memory device becomes corrupted. During normal operation, the BIOS code is updated using a radio link. If the BIOS is corrupted while being updated, a recovery routine stored in the boot block is executed. The recovery routine permits the corrupted BIOS to be reprogrammed using a serial interface instead of the radio link.

  • Patent number: 5990875
Abstract: A pen-based computer system device includes a digitizer and utilizes a passive stylus as an input device. The system emulates standard two-button mouse functions by generating data packets corresponding to the x-y coordinates of the stylus for each pen-down event. In order to prevent malfunction of the system, a plurality of packets are generated for each pen-up event to prevent maloperation of the system in the event a data packet for a pen-up event is lost or garbled.
