The disclosure further relates, in certain aspects, to the discovery of certain compounds that are useful are useful for treating, ameliorating, and/or preventing diseases or disorders associated with reduced and/or deficient PanK activity in a subject. In certain embodiments, the disease or disorder comprises a neurodegenerative disease, such as but not limited to pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN).
