Patent number: 6905161Abstract: A tarpaulin bow cover system for vehicle such as lorries or trailers includes a number of U-shaped bow members which cover the width of a loading platform of the vehicle and for opening or closing the cover by means of rollers or roller trolleys can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the loading platform along running or guide rails positioned along the two lateral sides of the loading platform. When the cover system is closed the bow members on their bow elements, which define an upper limit, support a tarpaulin which covers the loading platform or the loading area of the vehicle. A first terminal bow member is immovably fixed to a face end of the loading platform and a second mobile terminal bow member is assigned to at least one fixing or locking device which is positioned at the other end of the loading platform.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2002Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Assignee: Edscha LKW-Schiebeverdecke GmbHInventors: Dieter Fliege, Roger Remmel, Josef Drasch

Patent number: 6612638Abstract: A folding top for a commercial vehicle includes a folding top frame, bows supporting a roof covering, and side tarpaulins suspended by means of hanging sliders. The folding-top frame includes upper longitudinal flanges spanning at least part of the length of a loading compartment of the vehicle. The frame is supported against a chassis of the vehicle via upwardly protruding supports and stakes. The bows are supported on the upper longitudinal flanges and displaceable in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The side tarpaulins are suspended via the hanging sliders in a longitudinally displaceable manner on assigned running tracks of the upper longitudinal flanges. Each of the hanging sliders includes a fastening plate for connecting one of the side tarpaulins. The fastening plate is of two-part design and includes a first part connected to the slider and a second part connected to an upper end of the one of the side tarpaulins.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2001Date of Patent: September 2, 2003Assignee: Edscha LKW-Schiebeverdecke GmbHInventors: Dieter Fliege, Josef Drasch, Roger Remmel

Patent number: 6595573Abstract: The invention relates to a bow configuration for sliding convertible tops of vehicle constructions or containers with rigid or flexible bulkheads and sidewalls and to longitudinal belts being formed of profile rails and limiting the height of the configuration. A tarpaulin which goes over the top area of the configuration is supported by bows (1) which are arranged in predetermined, regular distances from each other and which span over the width of the loading area and which are supported at the longitudinal belts of the configuration. Said bows are supported at both ends horizontally as well as vertically by means of a roller trolley (5) or a corresponding roller arrangement which encompass the longitudinal belts at least partially. Said bows are guided in the longitudinal direction along complementary configured guide rails of the upper longitudinal belts of the construction.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2001Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Edscha LKW-Schiebeverdecke GmbHInventors: Josef Drasch, Roger Remmel

Patent number: 6561564Abstract: The invention relates to a tarpaulin structure for the bodies of motor vehicles and containers, comprising a tarpaulin frame that covers the entire length of the loading compartment, is provided with upper longitudinal fascias and is supported against the body of the motor vehicle by protruding supporting elements. At least one tarpaulin that covers the roof area of the top is supported by bows (8) that are supported on both ends by rollers (6), whereby the bows can slide in a longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle, on the longitudinal fascias (4) of the tarpaulin frame. The neighboring bows (8) are joined to each other in the region of both longitudinal sides of the tarpaulin by a bearing element (9) for the tarpaulin, whereby a reduced distance between both adjacent bows (8) results in the tarpaulin being folded between the adjacent bows in an upwards direction.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2001Date of Patent: May 13, 2003Assignee: Edscha LKW-Schiebeverdecke GmbHInventors: Dieter Fliege, Josef Drasch, Roger Remmel

Patent number: 6502890Abstract: The invention relates to a side-rail coupling for tarpaulin covers of vehicle superstructures, notably a coupling for the upper side-rails of cover frames which can be assembled and comprise separable longitudinal sections of running or guide rails for a telescopic tarpaulin cover. The side-rails (3) have at least one hollow profile chamber and running or guide rails connected to same and serve to support and guide rollers or roller bogies (4) on which hoops (5) carrying the tarpaulin are supported laterally against the cover frame. Adjacent longitudinal sections of the side rails (3) can be removably coupled using coupling elements which engage the hollow profile chamber in a positive fit.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2001Date of Patent: January 7, 2003Assignee: Edscha LKW-Schiebeverdecke GmbHInventors: Dieter Fliege, Josef Drasch, Roger Remmel

Publication number: 20020167193Abstract: The invention relates to a tarpaulin bow cover system for vehicles such as lorries or trailers, comprising a number of U-shaped bow members (4) which cover the width of a loading platform (1) of the vehicle and for opening or closing the cover by means of rollers or roller trolleys (2) can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the loading platform (1) along running or guide rails (3) positioned along the two lateral sides of said loading platform (1). When the cover system is closed said bow members (4) on their bow elements (11), which define an upper limit, support a tarpaulin which covers the loading platform (1) or the loading area of the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2002Publication date: November 14, 2002Inventors: Dieter Fliege, Roger Remmel, Josef Drasch

Patent number: 6474720Abstract: The invention relates to a tarpaulin fixture for canopies of utility vehicles, notably folding canopies for vehicle superstructures and containers, comprising a canopy frame made of upper longitudinal booms (2) which cover the length of the loading area and are supported in relation to the vehicle chassis by means of a upright supports and stakes. Bows (3) which can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and support a roof cover, notably a tarpaulin, are supported on the upper longitudinal booms (2) of the canopy frame in such a way that their end faces or caps (4) placed onto same laterally overlap the longitudinal booms (4). Especially side wall tarpaulins are fixed by irremovable clips passing through eyelets or at least recesses in the tarpaulin to support elements, such as the fixing plate of suspension slides or bow caps, arranged at intervals to each other.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2001Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignee: Edscha LKW-Schiebeverdecke GmbHInventors: Dieter Fliege, Josef Drasch, Roger Remmel

Patent number: 4227783Abstract: Thin walled components, which are moving or capable of movement, are stopped or clamped by the cooperation between an electromagnet core and an independent short-circuit component. The mobile component is always in contact with the core of the electromagnet and with the short-circuit component such that no noise is produced when the mobile component is stopped or clamped.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1978Date of Patent: October 14, 1980Assignees: Karl Vockenhuber, Raimund HauserInventors: Josef Drasch, Gustav Firla, Leopold Rollenitz, Robert Scheiber
