  • Patent number: 4310166
Abstract: A transport apparatus having a loading bridge, is movable by hand for transporting loads over stairs. There are two front rollers (3), which are either extendable or variable in their angular position, and two rear rollers (7), which are secured to downwardly extending arms (6). The loading bridge (1) takes up a rearwardly tilted position when the transport apparatus rests with the rollers (3, 7) on a horizontal surface. The spacing between the front and rear rollers (3, 7) and the roller diameters are selected so that, when climbing a stair, the front rollers (3) rest on an upper tread while the rear rollers (7) simultaneously rest on a lower tread. When the apparatus is not in use, it may be folded to take up but a small space by folding the tiltable hand levers (14) inwardly and by tilting the arms (6) upwardly.

  • Patent number: 4275896
Abstract: The present safety mechanism is especially constructed for a carriage insertable into a load space of a vehicle. The safety device prevents the accidental unlocking of wheel supporting, tiltable arms of the carriage. Specifically, the wheel supporting arms must not be able to tilt upwardly unintentionally. For this purpose a security pin or bolt is provided which is capable of reaching behind a shoulder of a locking bolt. The security pin or bolt is connected by a cable to a tiltable lever which supports a roller. When the roller comes to rest on a support, for example, the loading platform, the security pin or bolt is withdrawn from the shoulder arresting position so that only after such withdrawal the locking bolt may be disengaged by actuating a respective grip member at the handle of the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4170379
Abstract: The present carriage is insertable into the load space of a vehicle such as a station wagon. For this purpose the carriage or vehicle comprises a loading platform and at least two wheels secured to arms which in turn are tiltably secured to the frame structure of the carriage. Roller elements project below the loading platform. The wheels may be arrested in their lowered down position and the arresting may be released when the arms are to be tilted into their upward position when the carriage is not loaded.
