  • Patent number: 5211218
Abstract: A melting and casting plant for operation at least under a vacuum and having a vacuum chamber. A wall of the vacuum chamber of the plant is angularly fashioned and is composed of a stationary part and of a swivellable part, the swivellable part being hinged to the stationary part. A door (ingot mold door) is provided in the swivellable part. The shape of the chamber wall and a linking axis of the swivellable part are fashioned or arranged, such that, when the chamber is opened, articles situated in the interior of the chamber are readily accessible. In comparison to the prior art, improved operations of the system, particularly regarding the chamber, is possible.

  • Patent number: 5069269
Abstract: A lifting and turning unit for a melting or casting plant. The lifting and turning unit for a deposit stand, preferably a table, for ingot molds of a vacuum melting and casting plant is provided. The unit consists of a tubular, vertically arranged lifter column that is axially movable with a hydraulic piston-cylinder unit and that has its upper end carrying the ingot mold table. A guide system composed of guide columns and of a yoke is provided. The guide columns serve for guiding the lifter column and for protecting the lifter column against twisting. The drive for the rotation of the rotatable ingot mold table is connected to the lifter column away from the harsh chamber environment. The unit provides an extremely low maintenance lifting and turing device wherein the longitudinal movements and the rotary movements can be executed separately from one another and thus allow for an exact positioning of the table.

  • Patent number: 4562943
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the pouring of a melt out of a crucible with a hole in the bottom which hole is blocked while the material is being melted with a closure plate that melts through locally as the result of heat transferred from the melt. To precisely establish the time at which the closure plate melts through, the plate is cooled from below while the starting material is being melted. Cooling is at least decreased and preferably terminated when it is time to pour out the melt. The plate can be cooled by a flow of a gas coolant directed against it or by contact with a cooling element that is raised into position against it from below.
