  • Publication number: 20210114150
Abstract: A blank for a shaft milling tool having a generally cylindrical body of solid carbide, a rear portion and a front portion, the periphery of which front portion being designed for chip flutes to be formed therein, is made according to a method including the step of providing at least two separate green bodies having at least one axially extending inner channel, which are fitted together along a common interface and sintered together to form a unitary body. For a more economic production of blanks with radially extending channels at least one generally radially extending channel is formed in at least one of the connecting surfaces before sintering the bodies together. The channel is formed with its radially inner end configured for fluid communication with the axial channel and with a radial extension to a position corresponding to at least 40% of the outer radius of the blank.

  • Patent number: 7073988
Abstract: A threading tool for generating a thread in a workpiece, includes a threading part which defines a longitudinal axis. A cooling channel extends inside of the threading part along the axis to a front end surface thereof for supplying a coolant. Longitudinally extending passages are disposed in an outer periphery of the threading part for the return of coolant exiting the coolant channel. A diversion element is positioned at the front end surface for diverting the exiting coolant in a laterally outward direction along the front end surface toward the passages.

  • Publication number: 20060072975
Abstract: The present invention relates to a thread cutting tool with a shank and a cutting part, the cutting part having several cutting lands (3) with interjacent flutes and the cutting lands (3) having a starting taper (3a) and a guide part adjoining same. In order to produce a thread cutting tool with the features named at the outset which experiences less wear and must be reground less often than conventional threadd cutting tools of the type described previously, it is proposed according to the invention that the cutting teeth (5) have a chamfer (6) or rounded area (7) at their corners.

  • Publication number: 20040105729
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool includes a cutting part having helical grooves formed in an outer periphery thereof. Each groove forms a helix angle relative to the axis of rotation which gradually transforms into a smaller cutting face angle at a front end of the cutting action.

  • Patent number: 5993120
Abstract: A thread-producing tool for producing an internal thread includes a body forming a rear shank portion and a front cutting portion. Provided in the body is a lubricant storage chamber for storing liquid lubricant which is driven toward the cutting portion through discharge passages under the action of centrifugal force during a thread-cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 5487626
Abstract: A threading tap comprises a cylindrical shaft and a threading portion. At least the threading portion comprises a compound material comprising a core of high speed steel or tool steel and a cover of "Coronite".RTM., i.e., a hard material with 30 to 70% by volume of submicronic hard materials in the form of carbides, nitrides and/or carbonitrides of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo and/or W in a metallic matrix based on Fe, Co and/or Ni. The chip surfaces adjacent to the cutting edges of the cutting threads have a negative rake angle. The threading tap has proven to be excellent at the threading of titanium-based alloys.

  • Patent number: 4930949
Abstract: In a thread milling cutter comprising at its tip cutting edges for making a bore, said cutting edges are formed as face milling cutting edges which enclose a mutual angle of 180.degree. or more, so that the thread milling cutter on reaching the intended drill hole depth and in order to be laterally moved need not first be raised. Also, it is possible with the thread milling cutter according to the invention when using said cutter to make threads of any desired diameter with the same thread pitch because the tool tip does not run against the drill hole bottom when laterally moved or offset as with the known thread milling cutter. In addition it is possible with the same tool to provide the thread at the entry with an edge-chamfer in such a manner that impairment thereof by formation of burrs is impossible.
