  • Patent number: 6525294
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for clamping and welding pieces of sheet metal (13, 14) which are placed against one another, preferably for use in the area of automobile manufacturing. According to the invention, a bracket (3) is fastened to a mounting flange (1), preferably of a robot arm. Said bracket (3) comprises a clamping tool (6) and a welding head (10). The energy beam (16) of the welding head (10) is directed into the welding gap between the pieces of sheet metal (13, 14). Using the mounting flange (1), the bracket (3) and/or the welding head (10) can be displaced in a linear guide (4), said guide being situated opposite the hydraulic cylinder (7), according to the progression of the weld seam (11). In addition, stop elements (8, 8′) for detecting the position of the edges of at least one of the pieces of sheet metal (13, 14) are arranged on the clamping tool (6) in order to position the pieces of sheet metal (13, 14) with regard to one another and/or to the welding head (10).

  • Patent number: 6098440
Abstract: A device for hemming of sheet metals, particularly of coachwork sheet metals for small-lot production series in automobile manufacture is disclosed. A ram with a superimposed hemming bed is arranged in a base rack presses the sheet metals to be hemmed against the hemming jaws of the pre-hemming and/or finish hemming tools. One or more hemming jaws (8, 8') are affixed to a rotary head (4) lying opposite to the ram (2) and are swingable by turning the rotary head (4) in working position. Moreover, the invention provides for that the hemming bed (5) is linearly traversable or swingable in horizontal plane between a loading point (B) and a working point (A).

  • Patent number: 6035504
Abstract: The application relates to a device for folding the edges of roof cutouts for motor vehicle sliding roofs in which the coachwork has an outer (1) and an inner (3) panel, each with an upwardly projecting flange (2, 4) limiting the roof cutout and the flange of the outer panel is wider than that of the inner panel. In a device for folding the edges of the cutout for sliding roofs, there is a fold bed (5) as the support for the outer panel and the inner panel arranged thereon, an abutment (8) on the side of the roof cutout for the flange of the outer panel and the flange of the inner panel bearing thereon, a filler slide (9) arranged above the fold bed and movable against the abutment or the flange and a multi-component folding slide, the folding slide components (14, 16) of which can be moved both parallel and perpendicularly to the plane of the roof cutout, and have folding strips (19) to engage and fold the section of the flange of the outer panel projecting beyond the flange of the inner panel.
