  • Publication number: 20230399524
Abstract: Described herein is a coating composition including at least one graphene oxide including at least one monovalent metal ion selected from the group consisting of lithium, potassium and mixtures thereof (GO-M), at least one binder B and/or at least one silane compound SC, and at least one solvent S1. Also described herein is a process to produce the coating composition, a method to produce at least one coating layer on a substrate by using the coating composition and a coating layer or multilayer coating obtained by said method. Also described herein is a method of using graphene oxide including at least one monovalent metal ion selected from the group consisting of lithium, potassium and mixtures thereof in coating compositions to improve corrosion resistance of said coating compositions.

  • Patent number: 9920430
Abstract: A method for improving the adhesive capacity of a protectively coated steel sheet is proposed, in which, in a continuous process, a protective coating based on Zn—Al—Mg is applied to the steel sheet and, in a further step, the protective coating undergoes a surface treatment in which an aqueous composition is applied in order to modify the natural oxide layer, which contains Al2O3 and MgO, without pickling this natural oxide layer as a result. In order to significantly increase adhesive capacity of the protectively coated steel sheet, the invention proposes skin-pass rolling the protectively coated steel sheet and then reacting the natural oxide layer with an aqueous fluoride-containing composition, reducing its MgO content in order to thus modify the natural oxide layer.

  • Publication number: 20130316192
Abstract: A method is shown for surface-treating a protectively coated substrate (1), more particularly steel strip, for the purpose of enhancing the strength of adhesion with an adhesive (10), where the at least partly multi-phase protective coat (2) comprises at least zinc and magnesium. In order to provide a particular suitability for adhesive bonding, it is proposed that the protective coat (2) be subjected to a pickling treatment, directed substantially at at least one intermetallic Zn—Mg phase (4) of the protective coat (2), with acidic pickle, more particularly acid.

  • Publication number: 20100276293
Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-corrosion system for metals consisting of at least one finish or coating that can be applied to a metal, said finish or coating comprising an organic matrix. The organic matrix also contains anti-corrosion pigments, which are finely distributed throughout the organic matrix. The anti-corrosion pigments are formed from a metal alloy of at least two metals and optionally from inevitable impurities. The invention also relates to a corresponding anti-corrosion pigment.
