Abstract: A knife cylinder for processing a continuous web has a plurality of knife blades mounted therein each associated with motors on the cylinder for adjusting each knife in a radial direction during rotation of the knife cylinder. A mechanism on the cylinder is provided for actuating each motor to control the radial adjustment of each knife, and a device located outside the knife cylinder is provided for operating the actuating mechanism.

Abstract: A knife cylinder for processing weblike material has at least one slot in its cylindrical surface for receiving a web cutting/perforating knife retained in place by a plurality of pressure medium cylinders distributed over the length of the knife. A rigid wall within the slot limits the extent of the pressure cylinders, and push rods extending through the wall may be provided for transferring pressure from the pressure cylinders to the knife.

Abstract: A pair of engaged cylinders of a machine for processing a continuous web or sheets passing between the cylinder nip has shafts journalled at opposite ends in a machine frame with first bearings mounted in the machine on the shafts, and auxiliary casings supporting second bearings on the shafts and located inboard of the first bearings. Pairs of the casings having a gap therebetween are mounted on the frame for adjustment relative to the frame and to one another in a direction perpendicular to the shafts, and at least one pressure medium cylinder acts between the frame and at least one of the casings in such direction for adjusting the size of the gap between the casings and for thus adjusting the size of the nip between the cylinders.

At least one force transmission element is likewise located in each groove between the blade and the bellows cylinders, or between the bellows cylinders and an opposing wall of the groove. Such elements contain pressure medium passageways connected with a pressure medium generating assembly for internally pressurizing the bellows.

A pressure conduit system includes a device for admitting a pressure medium into the system and a device for bleeding the system. A biasing mechanism is provided to maintain pressure within the conduit system.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for use with machine processing equipment for processing a continuous moving web having markings representing repeat lengths applied thereto during a prior web pass through the machine. The apparatus insures registry of the web between passes through the machine as it is capable of varying web tension maintained downstream and upstream of a web draw mechanism in accordance with the changes in speed and elongation of the web prior to entering the machine.
