  • Patent number: 10701156
Abstract: A method for transmitting data using an Ethernet AVB transport protocol between nodes of a motor vehicle includes: reserving resources necessary for the transmission of the data by reservation messages from a dedicated protocol; setting flow of data from a node to a particular transmission rate and/or data rate; transmitting data at cyclic intervals via an Ethernet-based network by inputting the data into a transmission frame and forwarding to local transmitters; deactivating the local transmitters and receivers of a node in non-use periods, in which no data need to be transmitted; activating again the local transmitters and receivers of a node provided that data are pending transmission in a transmission frame, wherein the local transmitters and receivers are available for transmission following an activation time; and activating the local transmitters and/or receivers of the nodes based on a reservation message and a setting of the transmission rate and/or data rate.

  • Patent number: 10374959
Abstract: A method for transmitting data in a packet-oriented communications network, in particular of a motor vehicle, with a guaranteed maximum transmission time for the data packets in the communications network, and to a user terminal for carrying out said method. According to the method, before the data transmission a specific quality of service is reserved by a reservation request from the sender of the data to the receiver of the data. The reservation request including the data rate of the data stream and the latency as parameters of the requested quality of service. Once the reservation request is confirmed, the requested quality of service for the communication link between the sender and the receiver is guaranteed in the network for the data stream. In addition, the quality of service for the data stream is adjusted by the sender on the basis of the topology of the communication network and/or the resources of the communication link.

  • Patent number: 9942165
Abstract: A method for transmitting data in a packet-oriented communications network, in particular of a motor vehicle and to a user terminal configured for carrying out the method. In the method, data packets are transmitted without a guaranteed transmission time for the data packets and with a guaranteed maximum transmission time for the data packets in said communications network. For a data transmission with a guaranteed transmission time, a specific quality of service is reserved prior to the data transmission by reservation request from the sender of the data to the receiver of the data and the data transmission with a guaranteed transmission time is only started once a confirmation of the reservation request sent by the sender has been received. In addition, selected data that is to be transmitted in a guaranteed transmission time is sent directly as a data stream of data packets and a reservation request is sent after the start of the data stream.

  • Patent number: 9533635
Abstract: A network component has a signal processing device having a processor, at least one voltage source that can be connected to a supply network of the vehicle, and at least one coupling device connected to the signal processing device and the voltage source. Lines of at least one network segment of the vehicle network can be connected to the coupling device for the simultaneous signal connection of the network segment to the signal processing device and for the voltage supply of the network segment by the voltage source. The voltage source is configured such that a voltage ratio between at least one supply voltage provided by the voltage source and the voltage provided by the supply network can be selected from a selection of several predetermined voltage ratios.

  • Patent number: 9515940
Abstract: A method for transmitting data in a packet-oriented communications network, in particular of a motor vehicle, with a guaranteed maximum transmission time for the data packets in the communications network, and to a user terminal in the communications network. In the method, a specific quality of service as a capacity of the communication link is reserved prior to a data transmission by a reservation request from the sender of the data to the receiver of the data and the requested quality of service as a capacity of the communication link between the sender and the receiver is guaranteed in the network for the data stream by the confirmation of the reservation request, or an indication is given by a rejection that transmission is not possible. In addition, the capacity of the communications network is determined cyclically prior to a reservation request, after a rejection and/or at predefinable time intervals.

  • Patent number: 9331838
Abstract: A method for synchronizing clocks in nodes of a vehicle network of a motor vehicle corrects a time difference between a master clock and a slave clock, taking into account transmission delay for a message between a master node and a slave node. At least for a first synchronization of the master clock to a slave clock after the nodes of the vehicle network are started up, a default transmission delay in the slave node is used to correct the time difference, and/or the slave node sending out a Delay Request message, and recording in the master node the time at which Delay Request message is received and the master node sending the time, as a Delay Response message, back to the slave node. In the slave node, the transmission delay for a message between the master node and the slave node is determined.
