  • Patent number: 5421682
Abstract: A tool bit, to be inserted into a tool bit chuck of a hand-held tool used for at least one of chiseling, drilling and percussion drilling, has an axially extending chucking shank (10) with a polygon-like cross-section having chamfered corners (13, 14, 15, 16). The chucking shank has two profiled faces disposed diametrically opposite one another and each has a locking groove (19) closed at its axially spaced ends. Two other diametrically opposite profiled faces form entrainment faces (12) with rotary entrainment grooves (11) each having entrainment faces (17, 18) for transmitting torque to the tool bit.

  • Patent number: 5265688
Abstract: A rock drill has an axially extending shank (1) with a drill head (2) on one end. The drill head (2) has an end face (3) with a cutting blade (4) and cutting pins (5) extending outwardly from the end face in the drilling direction. The cutting blade (4) extends diametrically across the end face and projects radially outwardly from the drill head (2) and axially outwardly from the end face (3). The cutting pins (5) are arranged on a diameter of the drill head which forms an acute angle relative to the cutting blade (4). Due to the acute angle between the cutting pins and the diametrically arranged cutting blade, removal grooves extending axially from the end face can be enlarged.

  • Patent number: 5174698
Abstract: In a combination tool bit and tool bit holder or chuck, rotary entrainment members (6, 7) extending over different circular arcs are formed in the tool bit holder for transmitting torque to the tool bit shank (8). Corresponding rotary entrainment grooves (9, 10), also extending over different circular arcs, are formed in the tool bit shank (8). Locking members (4) axially retain the tool bit in the holder. The locking members (4) can be displaced radially into or out of the recesses (11, 12) in the tool bit shank (8). The recesses (11, 12) are laterally closed. Due to the different configurations of the rotary entrainment members (6, 7) and the corresponding grooves (9, 10) it is possible to transmit higher torques while avoiding detrimental cross-sectional weakening of the tool bit shank (8).

  • Patent number: 5145237
Abstract: An axially extending cutter bit has a shank extending between a trailing end (2, 7) arranged to be inserted into a tool chuck and a leading or working end (5, 8) with the shank between the trailing end and leading end being divided into a first section proceeding from the trailing end and a second section proceeding from the first section to the leading end. The second section is stepped inwardly from the first section. As a result, the energy throughput in passing shock waves is improved and higher material removal rates by the leading or working end are achieved.

  • Patent number: 5082070
Abstract: A hollow drill (1) is made up of a tubular carrier part (2), a cutter part (3) and an intermediate part (4) extending between the carrier part (2) and cutter part (3). The intermediate part (4) is rigidly fixed to the cutter part (3). The carrier part (2) and the intermediate part (4) have axially extending extensions (11, 12) which telescope one into the other with solder (8) located between and removably connecting the extensions (11, 12) together.

  • Patent number: 5076371
Abstract: A tool for use in a hand power tool has a tool shank to be received in the hand power tool and two diametrically opposite recesses formed in the tool shank for receiving locking bodies of the power tool, and at least three rotary driving grooves open at a rear end surface of the tool shank and located on both sides of said longitudinal plane passing through the two recesses, and symmetrically relative to a plane of symmetry that extends transverse to the longitudinal plane for receiving strip-shaped rotary drivers of the hand power tool. The at least three rotary driving grooves are distributed along a circumference of the tool shank in such a manner that two rotary driving grooves are never located diametrically opposite to each other. The sum of cross-sections of rotary drive grooves located on one side of the longitudinal plane is substantially equal to a sum of cross-sections of rotary drive grooves located on another side of the longitudinal plane.

  • Patent number: 5069584
Abstract: A hollow drilling tool is made up of an axially extending tubular carrier part, a cutting body at one end of the carrier part, and guide elements located in the axial direction of the carrier part between the cutting body and the carrier part. The radially outer surface of each guide element is in alignment in the axial direction of the carrier part with the radially outer surface of the cutting body. The guide elements guide the hollow drilling tool in a borehole formed by the cutting body.
