Abstract: A roll of material is unloaded from a roll changer of a web-processing machine. The roll changer includes a first arm having a first axle journal and a second arm having a second axle journal. The roll of material is rotatably supported between these two spaced axle journals. The first arm is moved axially outwardly until the first end of the roll is stripped off the first axle journal. The second arm is then also moved axially outwardly until the roll of material is stripped off the second axle journal.

Abstract: Rolls of prepared, and of unprepared materials, for use in a web-processing machine, are stored in a warehouse. Information that is used to anticipate consumption data for an impending production period, or anticipated consumption data, is supplied to a material flow system that includes implemented logic. A warehousing strategy is defined in a sub-process which uses the anticipated consumption data and a current inventory.

Abstract: Reels of material are transported by being disposed on a first transport carriage which is, in turn, disposed on a second transport carriage. The second transport carriage travels between a reel storage area, that has a plurality of storage spaces, and a reel changer of a web-processing machine. The second transport carriage, together with the first transport carriage and the reel of material that is deposited on the first transport carriage then travels to an offload or unload position of the reel changer.

Abstract: A depot or a storage facility for a plurality of material rolls, which rolls are intended for further processing in a processing machine, includes two outer shelving blocks in addition to at least one inner shelving block that is situated between the two outer shelving blocks. A storage location of the inner shelving block can be loaded or unloaded by a retrieval device which can access the shelving block from both longitudinal sides of the shelving block.

Abstract: An automatic roll changer including a reel stand having a holder. At least one roll of material is rotatably mounted in that holder. A transport device is provided for transporting either at least on new material roll or at least one spent reel caring from which the material originally on the reel casing has been at least partially unwound. The transport device is adapted to move transversely to the longitudinal axes of the mounted material reel and underneath the reel stand.

Abstract: A device that is adapted to wind a web of material includes a winding body to which a start of a material web can be connected. The material web is wound by rotation of the winding body which includes two clamping elements that can be displaced with respect to each other. A clamping gap is defined by these two clamping elements and the start of the material web can be placed in this clamping gap. These two clamping elements of the winding body are pressed against one another while clamping the start of the web. A guiding element, such as a plate is provided to guide the material web start to the clamping gap. A method for preparing a material roll is also disclosed.
