Patent number: 4759172Abstract: A hay-making machine, in particular for side-delivery raking, includes a plurality of truncated-cone-shaped rotary devices which are rotatably arranged about an axis which is slightly inclined in relation to a vertical line, the rotary devices being provided with elastic deformable tools and being arranged side-by-side on a supporting arm which slightly ascends in relation to the working surface and which is supported on the ground by a supporting plate and also provided with a joint drive. The supporting arm extends essentially perpendicular to the working direction of the machine and the adjacent rotary devices overlap. A driving pulley at on end of the supporting arm is connected by superimposed V-belts to a respective rotary device, and the V-belts are provided with a band-like widened backside to form a closed working surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1986Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Fella-Werke GmbHInventors: Josef Purrer, Bernhard Kohl

Patent number: 4555065Abstract: The invention relates to a chopping arrangement for a chopper and in particular a drum chopper having a chopping drum with several cutting blades spaced apart along its periphery which cooperate with a counter blade, the latter lying at each end against an anvil and being surrounded at each end by an essentially U-shaped clamp clip which presses the counter blade against the horizontal surface of the anvil under the effect of tension screws which penetrate the clamp clip and cooperate with tension nuts. The two arms of the clamp clip are extended by articulation pieces and the insides of the articulation pieces facing the anvil have a convex design and lie against the side walls of the anvil at only one point.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1984Date of Patent: November 26, 1985Assignee: Kloeckner-Humboldt-Deutz AGInventors: Berthold Binder, Josef Purrer

Patent number: 4454785Abstract: A control element for an agricultural machine comprises a standard lever pivotal about a lever axis through angularly offset positions associated with respective operational levels of the machine. This lever carries a handle remote from the lever axis and centered on a handle axis different from the lever axis and a grip carried on the handle and rotatable thereon about the handle axis between at least one grip end position and an angularly offset grip central position. A grip switch is actuatable by the grip only in the grip end position. A thumb-operable pin is axially displaceable in the handle between an outer pin position and at least one inner pin position. A pin switch is actuatable by the pin only in the inner pin position, and biasing means urges the pin into the outer pin position.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1981Date of Patent: June 19, 1984Assignee: Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz AG Zweigniederlassung FahrInventor: Josef Purrer

Patent number: 4312177Abstract: A height adjuster for an agricultural implement, such as the crop pickup device of a field chopper, picker, thresher or like machine having an intake or pickup unit drawing the crop to a chopper or blower, has at least one movable front point or shoe which is swingable about an axis transverse to the direction of travel and rides on the ground. Within this shoe switches are provided to respond to the pivotal movements of the shoe and control a hydraulic cylinder for lifting or lowering the pickup unit to conform to changes in the ground contour.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1980Date of Patent: January 26, 1982Assignee: Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz AG Zweigniederlassung FahrInventors: Martin Maier, Josef Purrer, Ronald Clemens

Patent number: 4295323Abstract: A towed harvesting machine, especially for row crop, has a chassis connected pivotally by a tow bar to a tractor and a fluid-responsive motor connected between the tow bar and the chassis or frame which is capable of laterally shifting the frame or chassis, and hence the mouth of the machine for ensuring alignment of the row crop with the mouth. The mouth of the machine can be provided with sensors controlling this motor, which can be a hydraulic cylinder, to assure this alignment.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1980Date of Patent: October 20, 1981Assignee: Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz AG (Zweigniederlassung Fahr)Inventors: Martin Maier, Josef Purrer, Ronald Clemens

Patent number: 4078734Abstract: A drive system for a field chopper in which a belt and friction wheel transmission operates the blade drum or cutter reel and is driven from a speed-reducing and distribution drive having a number of output shafts which operate the pickup and intake elements of the harvester.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Fahr Aktiengesellschaft GottmadingenInventor: Josef Purrer

Patent number: 4059234Abstract: A field chopper, having a chopper drum or reel rotatable on the chassis and a plurality of feed rollers for advancing the crop material to the chopper drum, is provided with a pair of arms flanking the drum and swingable about the axis thereof. The arms each carry a pivotal compensating bar, a pair of pressing rollers being journaled on these arms and being driven by gears meshing with a central pinion whose shaft forms the axis of one of the bars and is, in turn, driven by a transmission. The pressing roller proximal to the blade drum is received in notches in the compensating bars and is connected thereto so as to be easily releasable.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1976Date of Patent: November 22, 1977Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Fahr Aktiengesellschaft GottmadingenInventor: Josef Purrer

Patent number: 4020995Abstract: A chopping apparatus has a housing on one side of which is provided a chopper reel rotatable in a forward direction for chopping and a reverse direction for sharpening, and on its other side with a fan rotatable in a reverse direction for discharging chopped crop supplied to it by a conveyor extending across the housing from the chopper. A transmission has a unidirectionally rotatable input shaft and a pair of mutually oppositely rotating and parallel output shafts. This transmission is secured to the fan side of the housing and the fan is directly carried on one of the output shafts. These output shafts are both exposed toward the chopper and either of them can be connected to the chopper drive by means of a universal-joint shaft having a snap coupling releasably connectable to either of the shafts for changing rotation direction of the reel independently of the fan.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1975Date of Patent: May 3, 1977Assignee: Maschinenfabrik Fahr AktiengesellschaftInventor: Josef Purrer
