  • Patent number: 10963232
Abstract: An approach is provided for optimizing a deployment pattern. Precedent system(s) that have components that match components in an initial deployment pattern of a new system are identified. A historical performance of the precedent system(s) is determined to not satisfy target non-functional requirements (NFRs) and target service levels of the new system. Responsive to determining that the historical performance did not satisfy the NFRs and the target service levels, the components in the initial deployment pattern are modified and a new deployment pattern for the new system is generated so that (i) the new deployment pattern includes the modified components and (ii) a performance of the new system using the new deployment pattern is likely to satisfy the target NFRs and the target service levels. A recommendation for deploying the new system using the new deployment pattern is generated.

  • Patent number: 10558445
Abstract: An approach is provided for optimizing a deployment pattern. Event and configuration data of precedent systems is aggregated. Based on the aggregated data, a metadata model of the precedent systems is generated. Components of an initial deployment pattern of a new system are identified. Target non-functional requirements (NFRs) and target service levels of the new system are determined. Based on the metadata model, precedent system(s) that have components that match or are similar to the components in the initial deployment pattern are identified. A performance of the precedent system(s) is compared to the NFRs and target service levels. A new deployment pattern for the new system is generated. The new deployment pattern includes a modification of the components identified in the initial deployment pattern. A recommendation for deploying the new system using the new deployment pattern is generated.

  • Patent number: 8417649
Abstract: An approach that provides a seamless conversation service between interacting environments is described. In one embodiment, there is a seamless conversation service tool that includes a conversation commencement component configured to facilitate commencement of a conversation between two or more parties occurring over a communication path in one of two or more interacting environments. A user context monitoring component is configured to monitor a user context associated with the conversation. A user context change identification component is configured to identify a change in the user context of the conversation. A conversation transfer component is configured to transfer the conversation between the two or more interacting environments in response to the identified change in the user context, while maintaining a transparency of functionality of the communication path.

  • Patent number: 8095881
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for locating a teleport target station for teleporting between at least one teleport source station and at least one teleport target station in a virtual world, the method including: associating a specific teleport target station object with the at least one teleport target station; associating a current location with the object; and broadcasting the current location of the target station object into at least one communication channel in the virtual world.

  • Patent number: 8028021
Abstract: A technique for providing presentation material in an on-going virtual meeting includes converting a real-world (RW) presentation into a virtual-world (VW) presentation. A media format of the VW presentation corresponds to a media format utilized by a target VW. The VW presentation is then stored in an RW media repository. The VW presentation is associated with an RW media uniform resource locator (URL). A VW screen control script is used to set a VW media URL associated with a VW screen parcel to the RW media URL. The VW presentation is then provided to participants of the VW meeting by accessing the RW media repository using the VW media URL.

  • Publication number: 20090271436
Abstract: A technique for building a virtual-world (VW) object based on a real-world (RW) object description includes receiving, at a VW toolshed, a message to create a new VW object. In this case, the message uniquely identifies RW object description data that is to be accessed by an RW object management application. VW object description data that is associated with the RW object description data is then requested from the RW object management application. An instance of the new VW object is then created utilizing a VW root object included in an inventory of the VW toolshed. The inventory of the VW toolshed also includes one or more textures, one or more sounds, and one or more scripts. The instance of the new VW object then executes a script to establish a communication path between the new VW object and the VW toolshed. The VW object description data is then provided on an item-by-item basis from the VW toolshed to the new VW object.

  • Publication number: 20090265667
Abstract: A technique for providing a three-dimensional (3D) virtual-world (VW) presentation includes selecting a 3D real-world (RW) presentation. One or more messages, including 3D VW presentation steps that are associated with the 3D RW presentation, are then received at a VW presentation object that includes a VW presentation root script. The one or more messages are passed from the VW presentation root script to VW relay scripts (RSs) included in respective VW presentation objects associated with the 3D VW presentation. The one or more messages are then broadcast from the VW RSs to VW presentation execution scripts (PESs) that are associated with the 3D VW presentation. Finally, the 3D VW presentation is provided based on executed ones of the VW PESs.

  • Publication number: 20060167685
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for the transcription of spoken and written utterances. To this end, the utterances undergo speech or text recognition, and the recognition result (ME) is combined with a manually created transcription (MT) of the utterances in order to obtain the transcription. The additional information rendered usable by the combination as a result of the recognition result (ME) enables the transcriber to work relatively roughly and therefore quickly on the manual transcription. When using a keyboard (25), he can, for example, restrict himself to hitting the keys of only one row and/or can omit some keystrokes completely. In addition, the manual transcribing can also be accelerated by the suggestion of continuations (31) to the text input so far (30), which continuations are anticipated by virtue of the recognition result (ME).
