  • Patent number: 5452996
Abstract: A rotary piston internal combustion engine has a casing including a central portion and two side portions. The central portion has a trochoidal inner mantle surface. An eccentric shaft extends through the casing and has an eccentric portion with a friction bearing. Main bearings for supporting the eccentric shaft in the casing are provided. A rotary piston, triangular in cross-section and having an interior chamber and axial edges with sealing members, is mounted on the friction bearing of the eccentric portion. The sealing members remain at all times in contact with the trochoidal inner mantle surface during rotation. A lubricating system for lubricating and cooling the rotary piston includes an oil cooler, a closed oil reservoir, and an oil filter. The lubricating system has a first pump and substantially axially extending channels provided in at least one of the side portions in the vicinity of the eccentric shaft.

  • Patent number: 5011387
Abstract: A rotary piston internal combustion engine of trochoidal type of construction with dual-arc or curved mantle runway or inner surface and at least one triangular piston having corners thereof in continuous sliding engagement with the inner runway or surface, such piston being journalled by roller bearings and regulated or controlled by a synchronization gear transmission. An oil-collector groove, channel or trough is provided on the shaft on a side remote from the or synchronization gear transmission. Bores in the eccentric lead from the oil-collector groove, channel or trough to the bearing of the piston and the smallest or most nominal oil quantities or volume for lubrication of such bearings, for lubrication of the synchronization gear transmission as well as the sealing parts of the piston, are provided extending in the eccentric.

  • Patent number: 4940400
Abstract: A lubrication system for a rotary-piston internal combustion engine of the trochoid type with a multi-arc-shaped trochoidal surface and a multi-cornered piston supported on a roller bearing. A dosed quantity of lubricating oil is supplied through an axial bore in the shaft and radial bores in the eccentric into the axial center of the bearing of the eccentric. The outer bushing of this bearing has a U-shaped axial cross-sectional shape and is provided with central radial bores which are aligned with bores in the piston and communicate with axial channels in the piston, the latter channels leading to radial bores in the internal gear of the mechanism. The cross-sectional aperture of these bores may be used to control the quantity of oil supplied to the gear mechanism.
