  • Patent number: 5338357
Abstract: The invention relates to shaped solid articles manufactured with a hydraulically setting composition comprising water, hydraulic binders and reinforcing fibres and moreover process fibres in an amount of 0-10 wt % with respect to total dry mix and fillers in an amount of 0-50 wt % with respect to total dry mix wherein the reinforcing fibres comprise from 0.1 to 5 wt % with respect to total dry mix of highly crystalline polypropylene fibres possessing a fibre breakage strength of over 490 N/mm.sup.2, having Q<5 and 97<HI<100, and 94<IPF<100, Q being the ratio of weight-average molecular weight to number-average molecular weight, HI being the boiling n-heptane insoluble content in wt % with respect to the total polymer and IPF being the isotactic pentad fraction in mol %.

  • Patent number: 4797161
Abstract: The mixture for manufacture of shaped elements of fiber-cement, in addition to minimum 5% by weight of pozzuolanic silicic acid contains also an amount of limestone powder. With this mixture it is possible to obtain a product of high strength properties without tendency to embrittlement respectively to formation of cracks on the surface. In utilizing the mixture for manufacture of shaped elements the latter are moulded from a mixture of aqueous material and permitted to set at 70.degree. to 90.degree. C. during 5 to 12 hours preferably with simultaneous compression.

  • Patent number: 4414031
Abstract: To reinforce products made from hydraulic binder agents, fibers of polymerized acrylic nitrile, which are manufactured with a molar concentration of acrylic nitrile units of at least 98%, are used. The fibers advantageously have a strength of at least 50 cN/tex and a breaking elongation of at most 15%. These fibers produce a product after setting having good bending tensile strength and excellent impact strength.

  • Patent number: 3992504
Abstract: Fibers and yarn and a process for preparing them comprising dissolving in concentrated sulfuric acid a polymer containing at least 75 mol percent of an aromatic poly-(1,3,4-oxadiazole) having the repeating structural formul a ##SPC1##In which Ar is ##SPC2## the benzene rings in A or B being substituted or unsubstituted; the linking bonds in A being situated m- or p- with respect to each other, and in B situated m- or p- with respect to X; X being --SO.sub.2 -- or --CO--; and n being 1 or 2. The solution is then spun through a spinneret into a substantially water-free precipitating medium of at least one liquid having the formula (II) ##EQU1## IN WHICH R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be the same or different and are alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R.sub.3 may also be H, and in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 or R.sub.1 and R.sub.3 may together comprise a divalent alkylene radical, the total number of carbon atoms in R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.
