  • Patent number: 6047961
Abstract: A sheet sensor arrangement for a sheet printing machine and particularly for a turning device of a sheet printing machine, which comprises at least one hollow cylindrical drum (3; 4), which has a gripper system to transport and/or temporarily store individual sheets (5). A sensor arrangement which is not very susceptible to contamination and has a mechanically simple structure is comprised of the fact that the cylindrical wall of the drum (3; 4) has at least one opening which allows light to pass through, and that a sheet sensor is formed by a light barrier (9, 10, 11), which has a light beam which, in at least one angle position of the drum, is directed from the inside at the opening which allows light to pass through. In addition, a corresponding process for optical monitoring of sheets in a sheet printing machine is indicated.

  • Patent number: 5944431
Abstract: A sheet sensor device for a sheet-fed printing press having a sheet-reversing arrangement, said sheet-reversing arrangement being comprised essentially of a storage drum, a reversing drum and gripper systems mounted on these drums, so that a sheet sensor device comprising a transmitter and a receiver is arranged in the sheet-reversing area formed between the storage drum and the reversing drum, and that the transmitter is arranged on the one side of the printing machine, and the receiver is arranged on the other side of the printing machine, outside of the sheet-travel area.

  • Patent number: 5697605
Abstract: Sheet delivery for a printing press includes a removable sheet stop, and sheet catchers movable into the sheet delivery for catching sheets to be deposited on a sheet pile while the sheets are yet above the sheet pile, for purposes of both removing a sample sheet and inserting an auxiliary pile holder, the sheet catchers being disposed at an outer end of the sheet pile and being introducible with a close spacing from delivery grippers transporting the sheets to be deposited, the sheet stop being removable from the sheet pile for enabling a sample sheet to be taken, and the sheet catchers being bringable into a position therein at least by respective front ends thereof they have a slight spacing from the sheet pile enabling the auxiliary pile holder to be inserted, the surface of the sheet pile being lowerable so that the auxiliary pile holder is insertable between a lower end of the sheet stop and a top surface of the sheet pile.

  • Patent number: 5694849
Abstract: Overshooting-sheet safety device for sheet deliveries of printing presses includes a triggering member responsive to overshooting sheets for triggering a stoppage of the printing press, the triggering member extending across the width of an oncoming sheet and being mounted in bearings at both sides thereof, the triggering member being deflectable perpendicularly to a line connecting said bearings for triggering a stoppage of the printing press.

  • Patent number: 5655449
Abstract: A gripper device of a sheet-guiding system grips a leading edge of a sheet freshly printed on at least one side thereof. The sheet is guided along an imaginary guide path in a sheet travel direction extending perpendicularly to the leading edge of the sheet. A plurality of first air blast nozzles having respective nozzle openings emit an air flow onto a surface of the sheet. The air flow has a first main flow direction extending in parallel with and in the direction of sheet travel. A plurality of second blast nozzles emit respective air jet bundles in a respective second main flow direction perpendicular to the leading edge of the respective sheet. The first and the second main flow directions, respectively, intersect at a common starting point and define an angle therebetween having a maximum value of 90.degree.

  • Patent number: 5497987
Abstract: Device for guiding a sheet having a leading edge which follows an imaginary conducting surface along a sheet-transport direction perpendicular to the leading edge, the sheet-guiding device being formed with a sheet-guiding surface spaced from the imaginary conducting surface, and having equipment for generating a plurality of air jets for applying an air flow to the sheet between a surface of the sheet and the sheet-guiding surface, the generating equipment being formed of respective flow channels for the air jets disposed at an angle to and merging with the sheet-guiding surface, includes an integral guide plate having a surface constituting a predominant part of the sheet-guiding surface, the integral guide plate being formed with perforations, the air-jet generating equipment being formed of blast-air nozzles having blast-air nozzle end faces constituting a remaining part of the sheet-guiding surface complementing the predominant part of the sheet-guiding surface to form the entire sheet-guiding surface, t
