    Abstract: The invention relates to a steering apparatus for automotive vehicles in which tie rods are connected to the motion transmitting device, e.g. a toothed rack, of a steering gear mechanism by way of elastic means, whereby the elastic means when subjected to thrust and/or compression transmit insignificant steering force only, the elastic means or the connecting member of the tie rods being mounted between deviation or deflection limiting devices of the motion transmitting device, there being provided a defined lost motion between the connecting member and the deflection limiting devices, there being no connection between the connecting device and the motion transmitting device for transmitting body noise.
