  • Patent number: 4426997
Abstract: A solar heating panel utilizing an improved panel member construction to increase the strength and heat transfer capacity of the panel. The panel has upper and lower layers of individual interconnected panel members, with the panel members in the upper layer including a pair of spaced outwardly extending leg portions and a bight portion therebetween having a plurality of spaced longitudinal fins formed therein extending downwardly into the panel members of the lower layer. A sheet of transparent material overlies the upper layer of panel members. Air flowing in the channels of the lower layer of panel members absorbs heat collected from the sun in the upper layer of panel members, with the fins aiding in transferring heat from the panel members in the upper layer to the panel members in the lower layer, while rigidifying the entire panel structure.

  • Patent number: 4117826
Abstract: A wood or coal burning metal stove formed with a base, a top wall, a casing between the two and a lining extending completely around the lower part of the casing, the base having no openings for draft, but the draft openings being thru a casing door and the lower edge of the liner. Bolts between the liner and casing to hold the top wall base and casing in assembled relation. The casing is assembled in sections with an expansion joint for the expansion of the various side wall sections of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4076013
Abstract: A solar heating system for a building consists of a stressed-skin roof structure which includes at least one layer formed of longitudinally extended channel-shaped beam members, wherein each beam member is generally U-shaped in cross-section and positioned with its open channel directed outwardly of the building. These beam members are placed side by side with their central bight portions lying in substantially the same plane. The open outwardly facing channels of the beams are closed to form a closed channel or air space which is heated from the sun. A heat storage bed is associated with the building and means are provided for selectively circulating air from the closed channels in the layer of beams to heat the storage bed and to return the air from the storage bed to the closed channel. The heat stored in the storage bed is selectively distributed to the interior of the building through a separate air circulating circuit.
