  • Publication number: 20080205519
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus is disclosed for communicating control information between components of an audio/video system. Processing and control logic is implemented to transfer a plurality of data streams on predetermined channels of a digital video interface. A first data stream contains video data received by a video interface receiver, where it is used to generate an image on a digital display. A second data stream contains control data, which is similarly received by the video interface receiver, and is used to control source devices coupled to the digital display.

  • Publication number: 20080172501
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for providing an extensible information handling system (IHS) bus implemented on predetermined channels of a digital video interface. IHS video signal information is multiplexed with IHS bus information by a host multiplexer for transmission across a digital video connector. The multiplexed IHS video signal and IHS bus information is received by a display multiplexer, where it is demultiplexed. Demultiplexed IHS video signal information is received by a video interface receiver, where it is used to generate an image on a digital display. Demultiplexed IHS bus information is received by a host bus interface transmitter/receiver, where it is used to support peripheral devices attached to the digital display.

  • Publication number: 20040178971
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling brightness, color and contrast in CRT monitors used in information handling systems. In accordance with the present invention, a viewing area on a CRT monitor is enhanced by applying appropriate signals directly to the grids in the CRT. In one embodiment of the present invention, appropriate voltage signals are applied to the G1 grid of the CRT. Parameter data is provided to the CRT using a DDC2/CI data channel, with the parameter data being based on the VESA MCCS command set. Utilizing the method and apparatus of the present invention, it is possible to achieve significantly greater brightness, color and contrast control in enhanced viewing areas displayed on a CRT monitor used in an information handling system.

  • Patent number: 6465103
Abstract: The present invention provides highly oriented multilayer films. They are produced by coextruding or laminating films having at least one layer of a fluoropolymer, at least one layer of a polyolefin homopolymer or copolymer and an intermediate adhesive layer of a polyolefin having at least one functional moiety of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof. With this structure the polyolefin layer allows the fluoropolymer layer to be stretched up to ten times its original length. Such a high orientation ratio for the fluoropolymer film increases the mechanical strength, toughness, and water vapor barrier properties of the film while using a thinner gauge fluoropolymer film. Coextrusion processing can be done at higher temperatures, i.e. in the range of from at about 280° C. to about 400° C. These temperatures allow films to be produced in the absence of polymer degradation and film melt fracture.

  • Patent number: 6238607
Abstract: A method of producing highly oriented multilayer films comprising laminating films having at least one layer of a fluoropolymer, at least one layer of a polyolefin homopolymer or copolymer and an intermediate adhesive layer of a polyolefin having at least one functional moiety of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof. With this structure the polyolefin layer allows the fluoropolymer layer to be stretched up to ten times its original length. • Patent number: 5985030
Abstract: A method of applying a starch sizing to a forming web on a paper machine, such as in the form of a curtain on a fourdrinier machine, employs a suspension of uncooked particulate starch and water which is applied, as a suspension, to the inlet of a downwardly opening die positioned over the forming web and applied at a consistency of between about 2 to 10% onto the surface of the web as a free falling curtain, the impact velocity of which is controlled to a rate sufficiently low to prevent distortion of the web on impact. Improved drainage is achieved by heating the suspension to a temperature less than about 150.degree., to prevent the cooking of the starched particles. The curtain may be applied to the web at fourdrinier table consistencies as low as about 2% and still obtain starch retention rates of about 80%.

  • Patent number: 5945221
Abstract: The present invention provides biaxially oriented multilayer fluoropolymer films. They are produced by coextruding or laminating films having at least one layer of a fluoropolymer, at least one layer of a thermoplastic homopolymer or copolymer and an intermediate adhesive layer which is preferably a polyolefin having at least one functional moiety of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof. With this structure the thermoplastic layer allows the fluoropolymer layer to be biaxially stretched many times its original length. A high orientation ratio for the fluoropolymer film increases the mechanical strength, toughness, and water vapor barrier properties of the film while using a thinner gauge fluoropolymer film. Coextrusion processing can be done at higher temperatures, i.e. in the range of from at about 280.degree. C. to about 400.degree. C. These temperatures allow films to be produced in the absence of polymer degradation and film melt fracture.

  • Patent number: 5770726
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing a substituted cellulose acetoacetate alkanoate without using a carboxamide/lithium chloride solvent system. The process involves contacting cellulose in a carboxylic acid diluent with an acetylating compound selected from the group consisting of a carboxylic acid anhydride and an acid chloride, an acetoacetylating compound selected from the group consisting of diketene, an alkyl acetoacetate and 2,2,6-trimethyl-4H-1,3-dioxin-4-one, and a mineral acid catalyst under conditions and in a molar ratio sufficient to cause the cellulose, acetylating compound and acetoacetylating compound to react to produce a substituted cellulose acetoacetate alkanoate.
