  • Patent number: 9502911
Abstract: An electronic assembly including a first connector having a first set of terminals physically and operationally compliant with a data transmission connector standard, such as USB 2.0, and a second set of terminals distinct from the first set of terminals physically compliant and operationally non-compliant with this data transmission connector standard. An electronic controller is connected to the first connector. The controller includes a memory device to store configuration data, such as a battery charging profile, used by the controller to control a first electronic device, such as a battery charging device. The second set of terminals receive new configuration data to update the configuration data stored in the memory device. The assembly may include a specially configured data cable to interconnect the assembly to a separate electronic device to transmit the updated configuration data. The assembly may reduce the current supplied for battery charging by monitoring a battery voltage.

  • Patent number: 8398443
Abstract: A connector for establishing electrical connection between a testing device and a test strip with a biological fluid thereon includes a contact pad on the test strip, and one or more contact wires in the testing device. When the strip is inserted into the testing device, part of the strip's end engages a contact portion of a contact wire and deflects it in a direction normal to the direction of insertion. In certain embodiments the radius of curvature (in the direction of insertion) of the contact portion is controlled to reduce abrasion of the strip by the wire. In other embodiments the radius of curvature (perpendicular to the direction of insertion) is controlled to reduce the abrasion of the strip by the wire. Sometimes the contact portion and/or contact pad is plated with a sacrificial material to reduce the coefficient of friction. In other embodiments various numbers of contacts receive the end of the strip substantially simultaneously, or are staggered in rows to distribute the resistance presented.

  • Patent number: 6416340
Abstract: A power connector system has a male member, a female member and a contact member. A cable is attached to the male member. The female member has a U-shaped channel. The contact member is U-shaped and is received in the channel. The side walls of the channel have outer edges defining an outer opening to the channel and end edges defining an end opening to the channel. The male member has a single blade which is insertable into the contact member either though the outer opening or through the end opening.
