  • Publication number: 20020147765
Abstract: Methods of delivering application modules over networks and monitoring those application modules are disclosed. A user requests a WEB page from a host site that includes embedded calls for the application modules. While the page is loaded on the user's machine, the application modules are loaded from a master site. The user interacts with the application modules and earns points depending on that interaction. The resulting points are dynamically sent to the master site where they are processed according to preset criteria, with the resultant information returned to the user in “real-time.” Methods of providing a point engine interface over networks and monitoring the interaction are disclosed. A user requests a WEB page from a host site that includes other possible means for a user to earn points than by interacting with the application modules as described above. Once the WEB page is returned, the user interacts with the page and earns points which are returned to the host site.

  • Publication number: 20020092362
Abstract: The present invention consists of a self-contained insert that can be placed within a catch basin or manhole in a closed conveyance stormwater drainage system. The device provides a means for isolating the water entering a catch basin from flows from other catch basins such that flow rate and water quality for water entering the catch basin can be measured, without contamination from flows from other catch basins. The device enables the use of various types of flow rate meters for determining the quantity of water passing into the catch basin and provides a volume of water from which samples may be collected for analysis of pollutant mass loading rates.

  • Patent number: 5348867
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing stable, surface-expressed polypeptides from recombinant gram-negative bacterial cell hosts. A tripartite chimetic gene and its related recombinant vector include separate DNA sequences for directing or targeting and translocating a desired gene product from a cell periplasm to the external cell surface. A wide range of polypeptides may be efficiently surface expressed, including .beta.-lactamase and alkaline phosphatase. Full enzyme activity is maintained and the proteins remain anchored to the bacterial outer membrane surface.

  • Patent number: 5056755
Abstract: A valve is disclosed herein having an open-ended passageway with a movable gate inbetween its opposite ends for selectively opening and closing the passageway. The opposite valve ends defining the passageway include a threaded fitting or cap carried on a valve body defining a tapered gland occupied by a frustro-conical resilient seal cooperating with the gland to seal between a conduit and the valve body. The valve body is adapted for installation in a situation joining opposing ends of separated conduit or pipes.
