  • Patent number: 8480831
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed generally towards systems and methods for manufacturing composite wood products. In some embodiments, the method includes performing an initial manufacturing step and performing a subsequent manufacturing step before residual heat from the initial manufacturing step completely dissipates. The initial manufacturing step includes combining veneers with an adhesive and heating and consolidating the veneers to form a core laminate. The one or more subsequent manufacturing steps each include applying one or more layers to the core laminate. The one or more layers each include a veneer component and an adhesive component. The core laminate and the one or more layers are sequentially heated and pressed to form a composite wood product. The disclosure also relates to systems for manufacturing composite wood products.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 9, 2013
    Assignee: Weyerhaeuser NR Company
Inventors: Joseph A. Fyie, Kristin L. Brandt, Brian C. Scott

  • Patent number: 5722210
Abstract: A generally triangular truss, comprising a horizontal chord and a pair of inclined chords. The inclined chords are joined at an apex, and the horizontal chord extends between the inclined chords to form a base of the generally triangular truss. A pair of vertical ties extends between the inclined chords and the horizontal chord, and a horizontal tie extends between the two inclined chords. The chords and ties define therebetween a space in which to construct a living area. The joints between the chords and ties are defined by holes extending through the chords and ties, with the pins extending through adjacent ones of the holes to create pinned joints.

  • Patent number: 4359151
Abstract: The apparatus described is designed to distribute particles of lignocellulosic material falling by gravity uniformly over the inlet area of an electrostatic orientation unit. The particles are metered onto a conveyor belt which discharges an even flow of particles between a pair of contrarotating squirrel-cage rolls whose direction of rotation is such that one part of the flow of particles passes between the rolls and two other parts of the flow are deflected outwardly from the contrarotating rolls. The three portions of the particle flow from the contrarotating rolls are directed respectively to larger squirrel-cage distribution rolls positioned within distribution chambers beneath the contrarotating rolls for even distribution. Various vanes and deflectors are provided to direct the flow of particles within the apparatus.
