    Abstract: A system and method for interpreting eye-tracking data are provided. The system and method comprise receiving raw data from an eye tracking study performed using an eye tracking mechanism and structural information pertaining to an electronic document that was the subject of the study. The electronic document and its structural information are used to compute a plurality of transition probability values. The eye-tracking data and the transition probability values are used to compute a plurality of gaze probability values. Using the transition probability values and the gaze probability values, a maximally probably transition sequence corresponding to the most likely direction of the user's gaze upon the document is identified.
