  • Patent number: 10594133
Abstract: An overvoltage protection arrangement includes a signal lead, a switch, and a comparator. The signal lead has a device segment and a bus segment. The switch is connected in series between the device segment and the bus segment. The comparator is operably connected to the switch to open the switch in response to sustained application of overvoltage to the bus segment of the signal lead. Aircraft electrical systems and methods of controlling voltage applied to electrical devices in electrical systems are also described.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 17, 2020
    Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation
Inventors: Christopher Charles Eberts, Joseph A. James
  • Patent number: 10585135
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a system and method for detecting a degraded isolation impedance in a positively sourced remote load. The system includes a remote load driven by a direct current (DC) source, and a controller operably connected to the remote load having a positive sourcing driver interface with a dedicated return having the DC source on an output leg and a dedicated return leg. The positive sourcing driver also including a switching device configured controllably connect a DC voltage supply to the output leg of the DC voltage source, a first impedance operably connected between the output leg and ground, a second impedance operably connected between the dedicated return leg and a negative voltage supply, and a clamping and limiting device operably connected in series between the dedicated return leg and ground, the clamping device configured to limit a positive voltage on the return leg.

  • Patent number: 8365574
Abstract: A method for minimizing stray current in capacitive sensor data includes receiving a first input from a first wire of a wire harness, the wire harness comprising a plurality of twisted wires, the first input comprising a first signal comprising first sensor data and stray current; receiving a second input from a second wire of the wire harness, the second input comprising a second signal comprising stray current; and subtracting the second signal from the first signal to determine the first sensor data. A system for minimizing stray current in capacitive sensor data is also provided.
