  • Patent number: 5876575
Abstract: There is disclosed a method, and the apparatus useful in the method, for the treatment of water in which the treatment unit is formed of a vessel having a treatment chamber with interior surfaces formed entirely of a nonferrous metal, preferably of copper and/or brass. Within the treatment chamber is suspended an electrode subassembly of copper cathodes and a sacrificial magnesium anode, formed of copper and magnesium plates which are oriented in substantially parallel array, spaced apart by a plurality of electrically conductive spacing elements.

  • Patent number: 5094739
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and an apparatus for treatment of water in an electrolytic cell having stacked plates of magnesium and copper in alternating array, separated by thin metal, brass washers. The stacked plates are disposed transversely across a cylindrical treatment chamber, preferably with four stacks aligned on equally angular spacings within the chamber. The water to be treated is introduced into the chamber tangentially to the inner wall thereof and is directed over the stacked plates. The tangential introduction of water into the treatment chamber generates a vortex flow of the water across the electrolytic cells which accelerates clarification of the water by forced separation of the precipitates which are collected in the bottom of the separation chamber and periodically removed. The clarified water is removed from the treatment chamber and passed through subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 3984953
Abstract: A transport assembly for a modular environmental space module has a shipping shell having two shell halves which define a shipping package volume therebetween. One of the shipping shell halves serves as a roof component for an erected space module and the other shell half may serve as a portion of a shipping container or as a floor component for an erected space module. Within the package volume wall components are positioned in stacked relationship. The wall components extend between the roof component and an underlying surface or the floor component in an erected space module. A floor component may be included within the package volume together with opening frame components for interspersing with the wall components in the erected space module for providing access and light openings in the walls. Support jacks may also be included within the package volume for supporting the erected space module.

  • Patent number: 3965958
Abstract: An assembly for joining members in juxtaposition at mating edge surfaces on the members. Faces on the mating edge surfaces are provided for abutting contact and a channel extends along the edges behind the faces. An elongate slot is formed through the faces in communication with the channels so that the slots in abutting faces overlie one another. A fastener having an elongate body, which may be flexible about a longitudinal axis, is formed to fit through the elongate slots when the faces on the members are in abutting position. The flexible body allows joining of curviform or convoluted abutting surfaces. Spaced lateral members are attached to the edges of the elongate body and are formed to fit in the channels. The fastener is drawn through the overlying elongate slots and into the channels when the faces of the members are in contact, securing the members in juxtaposition as the lateral members on the fastener contact the surface of the channel adjacent to the elongate slots.
