  • Publication number: 20170252166
Abstract: An implant assembly for a long bone is adapted to support an exo-prosthesis. The assembly includes a stem, a subdermal component and a percutaneous post. The stem has a proximal end that is adapted to be received in a surgically prepared medullary canal of the long bone, and a distal end having a surface that is adapted to promote bone ingrowth. The subdermal component includes a proximal portion that is adapted for attachment to the distal end of the stem, and a fixation surface that is adapted to promote soft tissue fixation. The percutaneous post has a proximal end that is adapted to be attached to the subdermal component.

  • Patent number: 9720453
Abstract: Techniques for fabric adhesion to an apparatus are described. According to one or more embodiments, an apparatus is laminated with fabric utilizing one or more fabric layers. In at least some embodiments, multiple adhesive zones are defined on a fabric layer. Each adhesive zone, for instance, has a particular set of properties, such as a particular location on a fabric layer, a particular adhesive thickness, a particular adhesive type, and so forth. In at least some embodiments, different adhesive zones differ from one another based on one or more of their respective properties and thus enable different fabric characteristics to be specified at different adhesive zones.

  • Patent number: 6004539
Abstract: An antimicrobial, abrasive, polishing compound, colloidal suspension or gel formulated for the controlling of microbial cross-contamination in the pumicing or polishing of prosthetic and orthodontic dental appliances and related materials. The colloidal suspension provides continuous, instant access to a pre-mixed polishing compound with excellent antimicrobial activity for use by dental offices and laboratories.

  • Patent number: 5857807
Abstract: A municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill system includes a leachate collection system installed in a layer of MSW in a preexisting landfill. The layer of MSW is covered with a layer of waste ash produced by incinerated MSW. The ash is gas impermeable and serves as a methane gas containment layer above the MSW cell. A plurality of columns of crushed stone pass through the ash layer to provide a leachate collection path to the leachate collection system. Alternate layers of ash and MSW fill the landfill with leachate collection columns in each ash layer to collect the leachate from each MSW cell layer. At least one, or as conditions may require, a number of gas wells are installed in each MSW cell for removing methane gas from the cell. The gas wells may be interconnected to collect the gas and supply it to a utilization system or for burn off.

  • Patent number: 4895573
Abstract: A femoral-side hip-joint prosthetic device for use in hip-joint replacement. The device includes an elongate stem whose surface defines maximally spaced infero-medial and supero-lateral surface curves, and which is characterized by a surface rotation which carries the supero-lateral surface curve about 15.degree.-30.degree. forward with respect to the infero-medial surface curve, on progressing upward along the upper surface portion of the stem, with the device in operative position. The rotation of the stem surface produces a close approximation to the cavity formed in the proximal femur by removal of the cancellous bone in the natural cavity formed by a wall of densified cancellous bone. A 3.degree.-15.degree. proximal anteversion of the neck is adapted to place a hip-joint ball carried on the stem at a position closely approximating that of the head in the natural femur.

The device includes an elongate stem whose surface defines maximally spaced infero-medial and supero-lateral surface curves, and which is characterized by a surface rotation which carries the supero-lateral surface curve about 18.degree.-30.degree. forward with respect to the infero-medial surface curve, on progressing upward along the upper surface portion of the stem, with the device in operative position. The rotation of the stem surface produces a close approximation to the cavity formed in the proximal femur by removal of the cancellous bone in the natural cavity formed by a wall of densified calcellous bone. A 3.degree.-15.degree. proximal anteversion of the neck is adapted to place a hip-joint ball carried on the stem at a position closely approximating that of the head in the natural femur.
