  • Publication number: 20150272935
Abstract: The invention provides methods of treating or preventing bleeding events or over-anticoagulation in a subject in need thereof who is identified as having sensitivity to a vitamin K antagonist such as warfarin by administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of an FXa inhibitor, which can be a direct or indirect FXa inhibitor, or a warfarin or VKA alternative drug or compound. The direct FXa inhibitor can be the small molecule edoxaban p-toluenesulfonate monohydrate, edoxaban, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt and/or hydrate thereof. In aspects, the subject is identified as having one or more genetic polymorphisms in genes CYP2C9 and/or VKORC1 resulting in loss of function, reduction in function, or aberrant function of these genes and/or their protein products, and sensitivity to warfarin.

  • Publication number: 20060106658
Abstract: Abstract of the Disclosure A computer system, computer-readable medium and a method for performing activity based cost modeling. A cost object array has dimensions defined by weight arrays each corresponding to facets of the business by which one would assess profitability and efficiency, such as by products and customers. Each element of the weight arrays represents a user-definable classification, such as particular product families or geographic regions, and is assigned an allocation weight. A cost driver array has the same dimensions as the cost object array comprising metrics, such as the quantity sold or dollars of revenue. A weighted allocation factor for each cost object is a normalized function based on the allocation weights for the corresponding elements of each weight array and the cost driver array with in the cost object array.  Activity costs are allocated to a particular cost object in proportion to the weighted allocation factor associated with that cost object.

  • Patent number: 5794284
Abstract: Apparatus for aiding persons in rising or descending between seated and standing positions provides stability to a conventional walker. In a preferred embodiment, an apparatus has a platform portion and two flexible connection members. The platform portion is substantially rigid and includes two parallel rails. At forward end portions of the rails, openings are formed for pivotable attachment therethrough of the connection members. The connection members are also pivotably attached to a forward portion of the walker, so that when a person places his or her weight on the platform portion, the connection members transmit the weight to the walker, thereby stabilizing the walker.

  • Patent number: 5736116
Abstract: A retrofit method for increasing production capacity of an ammonia plant having a front end including in series primary and secondary reformers and a shift converter for reacting a hydrocarbon feed, steam and air to form a make-up syngas stream comprising hydrogen and nitrogen at about design stoichiometry, and a synthesis loop wherein a recycle syngas stream is combined with the make-up gas to form a syngas feed to ammonia converters. The retrofit involves the installation of an air separation unit to supply oxygen and nitrogen streams. The oxygen is used to enrich air supplied to the secondary reformer and increase the hydrogen content of the make-up gas substantially above the design stoichiometry and capacity. The nitrogen stream is supplied to the synthesis loop to obtain a desired hydrogen to nitrogen ratio in the syngas feed to the ammonia converters and compensate for the excess hydrogen in the make-up gas.
