  • Patent number: 7190682
Abstract: Radio heads, methods and systems are provided for communicating data in a radio communications system. The data communications system includes first and second radio heads. The first radio head has at least first and second transceivers. The first radio head includes a first control processor coupled with each of the at least first and second transceivers wherein the first control processor receives a first plurality of timeslots including at least one control timeslot. The first control processor reads control information from the at least one control timeslot of the first plurality of timeslots and provides the control information from the at least one control timeslot of the first plurality of timeslots to each of the first and second transceivers. Finally, the first control processor generates a second plurality of timeslots. The second radio head includes at least third and fourth transceivers.

  • Patent number: 7181242
Abstract: Carrier data can be communicated between a carrier interface of the first radio base station node and a mobile switching center over a carrier bus according to a carrier protocol. In addition, bus data can be communicated between a bus interface of the first radio base station node and a second radio base station node over a radio base station bus according to a radio base station protocol that is different from the carrier protocol. Related radio communications systems and nodes are also discussed.

  • Patent number: 7061884
Abstract: A first frame of carrier data can be communicated between a first carrier interface of a first radio base station node and a mobile switching center over a first carrier bus. In addition, a first frame of bus data can be communicated having a first number of dedicated control timeslots at a first bus interface of the first radio base station node over a first radio base station bus. Furthermore, a second frame of carrier data can be communicated between a second carrier interface of a second radio base station node and the mobile switching center over a second carrier bus. Finally, a second frame of bus data having a second number of dedicated control timeslots, different from the first number of dedicated control timeslots, can be communicated at a second bus interface of the second radio base station node over a second radio base station bus.

  • Patent number: 6788961
Abstract: The selection of the primary control signal bus to use for a given radio head is based on propagation delay to the relevant radio head. A plurality of radio heads are cascaded in a chain with buffered error correction therebetween. At least first and second control interfaces connect to the chain and supply control information thereto via respective control signal busses, which may be virtual busses. The propagation delay from a first control interface to a first radio head over a first bus is determined. Likewise, the propagation delay from a second control interface to the first radio head over a second bus is determined. Thereafter, the radio head determines which control signal bus to select as its primary control signal bus based on the respective propagation delays between the first radio head and the first and second control interfaces.
