  • Publication number: 20210138294
Abstract: A channel filler is used in a table having a planar surface, where the table has a width and a length, and a plurality of cushions fixedly attached to planar surface. The channel filler includes a compressible body portion configured to compressibly fit into a channel formed between adjacent cushions. The channel extends along the width of the planar surface and is defined by a distance between the adjacent cushions. The compressible body portion has a cross-sectional shape configured to be removeably retained in the channel so as to provide a smooth transition along an upwardly-facing weight-bearing surface of the cushions and between the adjacent cushions.

  • Publication number: 20070002875
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods to cost effectively monitor and control distributed devices within a cable television network are disclosed. In particular, a gateway transponder and a device transponder are provided. A device transponder can be associated with a device other than a power supply located in a cable television network. The device transponder provides an efficient mechanism for exchanging control messages between a device where the transponder resides and a network operator management system. A gateway transponder can be associated with a network power supply. A gateway transponder serves as a gateway between a network operator management system and a set of device transponders. In a further feature of the present invention, a very simplified management protocol is provided that simplifies Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) messaging and reduces the size of management messages that are exchanged between a gateway transponder and a device transponder.

  • Patent number: 6069320
Abstract: A cable splice enclosure made up of: (1) a splice enclosure tube having two compressible ends with annular ledges inside the compressible ends; (2) first and second compressible grommets adapted to be inserted into the compressible ends; and (3) two outer shells adapted to be fastened to said first and second compressible ends of the cable splice enclosure tube. The outer shells have an inclined outer end portion that: (1) holds the compressible grommets in abutted relation to the annular ledges; and (2) compresses the compressible ends, which, in turn, radially compresses the grommets to form a watertight seal around the cables to be spliced. In a different embodiment, which is suitable for enclosing butt-splices, the splice enclosure tube has an open compressible end and a closed end. The open compressible end of the butt-splice enclosure tube uses the same parts and works the same as both ends of the splice tube extender.

  • Patent number: 5760332
Abstract: An enclosure for protecting cable splices having a pair of outer shells, a pair of inner shells, an extender between the pairs of inner and outer shells, and clips inside the inner shells for resisting forces applied to the spliced cables that would tend to separate the spliced cables. The cables to be spliced are passed through a hole in the outer shell, inner shell, and compressible grommets in the inner shells, and space for the cable splices is provided by the extender tube. As the outer shells are threaded onto the extender tube, a seal is formed around the splice by the compression of the grommets and the joining of the inner ends of the inner shells with the ends of the extender tube.

  • Patent number: 5502280
Abstract: A cable splice protector for protecting one or more cable splices located in an inner recess defined by the combination of a first inner shell and a second inner shell, an outer recess for containing the two inner shells including a first outer shell and second outer shell, the cable splice being compressively sealed from the element where the spliced cables pass through apertured grommets associated with the first and second inner shells.

  • Patent number: 5422564
Abstract: This invention permits one to trace more than one electrical conductor, each of the electrical conductors being associated with both a circuit breaker and an electrical outlet. The invention consists of a receiver and multiple transmitters. Further, in a single transmitter form of the invention, the invention permits the transmitter to continually transmit its signature signal without power dissipation concerns, just like the ability to continually transmit in the multiple transmitter form of the invention. Lastly, the device is able to trace conductors regardless of the load electrically connected to the conductor.

  • Patent number: 4910791
Abstract: A method for calibrating a remote pilot unit is provided wherein both the pilot receiver and the pilot transmitter are calibrated. A test signal of a known magnitude is applied to the pilot unit and the magnitude actually received by the pilot receiver is determined. The two magnitudes are compared and a correction signal is determined. To calibrate the remote transmitter, a signal of a nominal magnitude from the transmitter is applied to a measurement device and the determination is made by the measurement device of the actual magnitude applied. The actual magnitude and the nominal magnitude are compared and a transmitter correction signal is determined. The receiver correction signal and the transmitter correction signal are stored in permanent memory within the pilot unit. This process is repeated at a plurality of frequencies to provide a signature for both the transmitter and the receiver.

  • Patent number: 4797604
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the length of wires includes connector assemblies, a current source circuit, a voltage gain circuit, analog-to-digital converter, a read-only memory, a microprocessor and a display unit. The connector assemblies are connected across the ends of the wire whose length is to be determined. The current source circuit is used to selectively supply different values of currents to the wire whose length is to be determined. The voltage gain circuit is responsive to the different values of currents for selectively generating a plurality of different voltage levels for each of the different values of currents so as to provide an analog voltage signal having a predetermined range. The analog-to-digital converter is responsive to the analog voltage signal for converting the same to a first digital signal corresponding to a resistance of the wire.

  • Patent number: 4394615
Abstract: Portable apparatus for testing the quality of a ground connection between the ground prong of a tool plug and the tool housing, and for testing the quality of insulation between the tool plug power prongs and the tool housing. The apparatus comprises an enclosure having a plug at one end adapted to be received into a conventional utility wall outlet and a receptacle at the other end for receiving a tool power plug. A pair of electrical contact plates are provided as two adjacent outside walls of the enclosure. Threshold detection circuitry carried internally of the housing is connected to the power and ground receptacles of the apparatus plug and to the contact plates. A first portion of the circuitry is effective for measuring the resistance between the ground prong of a tool plug inserted into the apparatus receptacle and a tool housing in physical contact with one of the contact plates.

  • Patent number: 3984765
Abstract: A device for testing electrical continuity at an industrial or household grounded A/C power outlet which is connected to an A/C line voltage through a ground fault circuit breaker. The device includes a housing having at one end thereof an A/C hot, an A/C neutral and a ground prong, and at the other end three lamps electrically connected between corresponding pairs of prongs to provide an indication of the presence or absence of an A/C voltage between the prong pairs when the prongs are received in plug-in connection into the outlet to be tested. The device further includes a momentary switch electrically connected between the A/C hot prong and the ground prong, and which, when activated, provides an overload current leakage path from the A/C line to ground so that the device may be used to check both the electrical continuity at the outlet and the operability of the ground fault circuit breaker in a single step.
