By using the rule set to check documents, documents may be more accurately checked for spelling and/or grammatical errors by taking into consideration the appropriate usage of colloquialisms based on the context (e.g., communicating with a friend). A name or a portion of a name of an individual known by the user is received. A directory search is then performed pertaining to the individual known by the user. After the user identifies the known individual from the directory search results, a selection to perform a directory, content or document search from the known individual's social perspective is received. Such a search may be performed based on the social network of the known individual.
