  • Patent number: 7044968
Abstract: A composite allograft bone device having a first bone member body with a face that defines a plurality of spaced projections forming a pattern and a second bone member body defining a face that forms a plurality of spaced projections forming a second pattern. The projections in the first face allow the two bodies to be mated together. The mated bodies form a composite bone device which is provided with a throughgoing bore and a threaded rod member mounted in the throughgoing bore extending into and engaging the bone member bodies holding the same together. Alternatively a rod member with a demineralized or knurled outer surface can be press fit into the throughgoing bore engaging the bone member bodies in an interference fit holding the same together. In another embodiment an inner central cancellous bone block is surrounded by plates or a U shaped base constructed of cortical bone material.

  • Patent number: 6554863
Abstract: An allogenic intervertebral implant for fusing vertebrae is disclosed. The implant is a piece of allogenic bone conforming in size and shape with a portion of an end plate of a vertebra. The implant has a wedge-shaped profile to restore disc height and the natural curvature of the spine. The top and bottom surfaces of the implant have a plurality of teeth to resist expulsion and provide initial stability. The implant according to the present invention provides initial stability need for fusion without stress shielding.

  • Patent number: 6025538
Abstract: A composite allograft bone device comprising a first bone member body defining with a face that includes a plurality of intersecting grooves cut into the face of the body to define a plurality of spaced projections forming a pattern and a second bone member body defining a face that includes a plurality of angularly intersecting grooves cut into the face to form a plurality of spaced projections forming a second pattern. The projections on the second face fit into grooves cut in the first face allowing the two bodies to be mated together with the spaced projections of each face fitting into the grooves of the opposing face. The mated bodies form a composite bone device which is provided with a throughgoing bore positioned at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the composite device and a dowel mounted in the throughgoing bore extending into the bone member bodies precluding the same from relative longitudinal movement.
