    Abstract: A warning system for use on a first vehicle includes a warning device connected to a control assembly. The control assembly includes a controller, a processor, a memory and a power supply. A GPS receiver is connected to the control assembly for determining the geographic location of the vehicle and for acquiring a local map of the vicinity of the vehicle. The control assembly also includes an intersection detection system for identifying a target intersection being approached by the vehicle and is configured to determine whether the vehicle is in the proximity of the target intersection. The control assembly also is configured to activate the warning system to issue a warning when the vehicle is within the predetermined proximity of a target intersection.
