  • Patent number: 11368822
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and embodiments related to a technique for changing topology of a wireless network in a multi-band wireless networking system. In a wireless network with multiple wireless networking devices and one or more client devices, communications between the wireless networking devices occurs via a backhaul channel, and communication between the client(s) and the wireless networking devices occurs via a fronthaul channel. At boot up, a wireless networking device configures the wireless network with a certain topology. After the topology is initially configured, the wireless networking device determines a network-related parameter and changes the topology of the wireless network based on the network-related parameter.

  • Patent number: 11310636
Abstract: The disclosed methods and systems use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to model the usage and interference on each channel. For example, units of the system can measure channel interference regularly over the time of day on all radios. The interference information is communicated to the base unit or a cloud server for pattern analysis. Interference measurements include interference from units within the system as well as interference from nearby devices. The base unit or the cloud server can recognize the pattern of the interference. Further, connected devices have a number of network usage characteristics observed and modeled including bitrate, and network behavior. These characteristics are used to assign channels to connected devices.

  • Patent number: 11272189
Abstract: The disclosure is related to adaptive encoding of video streams from a camera. A camera system includes a camera and a base station connected to each other in a first communication network, which can be a wireless network. When a user requests to view a video from the camera, the base station obtains an encoded video stream from the camera and transmits the encoded video stream to a user device. The base station monitors multiple environmental parameters, such as network parameters, camera parameters, and system parameters of the base station, and instructs the camera to adjust the encoding of the video stream, in an event one or more environmental parameters change.

  • Patent number: 11229023
Abstract: Disclosed is an access point (AP) for a network that includes security features for interacting with devices on the network. The other devices on the network may be other APs, client devices, or a backend configuration server. The access point includes a private key that is used to verify signals to and from (the private key may be different for different functions). In the case of other APs, the private key is used to verify control signals sent between the APs to identify and prevent a hijacked AP from taking control of the network by sending false control signals. In the case of a client device, the client device may use the subject AP's private key to identify that the subject AP is a trusted member of the network that may receive data. In the case of the backend server, the subject AP may verify configuration updates via use of the private key to prevent loading of malicious firmware.

  • Patent number: 11223997
Abstract: A wireless station implements a technique to reduce the occurrence of collisions between messages in a wireless network by dynamically modify a message interval during a communication session, based on received information indicative of beacon timing. The technique can be implemented by an access point on a wireless local area network to reduce collisions of beacon transmissions. The received information can include information indicative of beacon timing of other wireless stations, difficulty of a wireless station in receiving beacon transmissions, device capabilities, and/or other information.

  • Publication number: 20220004641
Abstract: Introduced here are technologies for securely booting a network access device or a satellite device. A network-accessible server system may receive a boot request that includes a boot certificate to identify the network access device. The network-accessible server system may determine that the boot certificate corresponds with a verified boot certificate listed on a boot certificate registry. • Publication number: 20210406382
Abstract: The disclosed method is performed by a cloud system for changing a registration of a network access device. The method includes initiating a change of a registration of a network access device. The registration is stored at a cloud system and indicates ownership of the network access device by a first user. The method further includes receiving an authorization from the first user to dissociate the ownership of the network access device by the first user, and receiving an indication of a physical reset occurring locally at the network access device. The physical reset allows the first user to dissociate the ownership of the network access device. The method further includes, upon receiving both the authorization by the first user and the indication of the physical reset, releasing the ownership by the first user of the network access device at the cloud system.

  • Patent number: 11206412
Abstract: An access point is configured to communicate with a wireless client device over a plurality of wireless communication channels. The wireless client device has an active operation state and a standby operation state. The access point detects a property of each of a first wireless communication channel and a second wireless communication channel, and applies a policy to the detected properties to select one of the first wireless communication channel and the second wireless communication channel. While the wireless client device is in the active operation state, the access point steers the client device to communicate with the access point over the selected channel.

  • Patent number: 11184851
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for reducing power consumption on a power sensitive wireless device, such as for example a digital wireless camera operating on a battery. According to some techniques, power can be reduced when a portable device is in close proximity to the power sensitive wireless device, such as when a person is home and the recording of video on a digital wireless security camera can be disarmed. Some techniques include filtering mechanisms, which reduce unnecessary information being transmitted to the wireless network circuit of the power sensitive wireless device. Other techniques include modifying or adapting IEEE 802.11 standards to achieve power reducing results such as for example reducing the number of times to wake up to receive the beacons. Also, improved synchronization techniques are implemented such as for example improved synchronization accuracy allows reducing the duration of the wake time for receiving the beacons.

  • Publication number: 20210306645
Abstract: The disclosure is related to adaptive transcoding of video streams from a camera. A camera system includes a camera and a base station connected to each other in a first communication network, which can be a wireless network. When a user requests to view a video from the camera, the base station obtains a video stream from the camera, transcodes the video stream, based on one or more input parameters, to generate a transcoded video stream, and transmits the transcoded video stream to a user device. The base station can transcode the video stream locally, e.g., within the base station, or in a cloud network based on transcoding location factors. Further, the camera system can also determine whether to stream the video to the user directly from the base station or from the cloud network based on streaming location factors.
