  • Publication number: 20240304881
Abstract: Lithium-ion batteries are recycled by a series of physical and chemical processes. Used batteries are comminuted, and then the shredded material stream is further processed to create black mass for further refinement into constituent materials that are used in the production of new batteries. Black mass is produced from a liquid stream and a solid stream. The method is adaptable to different types and sizes of lithium-ion batteries and is designed to minimize waste and optimize material recovery.
