  • Patent number: 5973897
Abstract: An electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit with reduced high frequency signal distortion includes an additional input shunting diode and a voltage follower amplifier. This second diode and the original input shunting diode are connected in series between the circuit node to be protected and circuit ground so as to limit the voltage level at such node during an ESD event. The voltage follower amplifier maintains a substantially constant voltage across this second diode, thereby maintaining a substantially constant diode junction capacitance. Hence, with the introduction of this additional, serially connected junction capacitance of the second diode, the nonlinear input capacitance responsible for input signal distortion is reduced, plus with a substantially constant diode junction capacitance due to the use of the voltage follower amplifier, such reduced capacitance remains substantially more constant over variations in the input signal voltage.

  • Patent number: 5599637
Abstract: The invention provides a zinc battery anode, comprising a substantially planar skeletal frame including conductive metal and having a portion of its surface area formed as open spaces, and further comprising an active zinc anode component encompassing the skeletal frame, the active anode component being formed of a slurry of porous granules comprising zinc, impregnated with and suspended in an electrolyte, and compacted under pressure to the skeletal frame.

  • Patent number: 5405713
Abstract: The invention provides a refueling system for automated recharging of zinc-air batteries of the type having a plurality of active zinc anode elements formed of active zinc material attached to a support frame immersed in an aqueous alkaline electrolyte in a battery casing, each anode element being in alternate array with an air cathode, the system comprising automated means for simultaneously separating a plurality of spent anodes from the casing, means for removing used electrolyte from the casing, transport means for conveying spent anodes to an anode processing station, the anode processing station, at which zinc which has been at least partly oxidized is removed from the support frame, means for attaching new or reconstituted active zinc material to a cleaned support frame to form an active zinc anode, automated means for simultaneously introducing a plurality of active zinc anodes into the casing, and means for introducing fresh electrolyte into the casing.

  • Patent number: 5360680
Abstract: A mechanically rechargeable electric battery includes at least one electrical cell which has a pair of generally planar outer electrodes configured to define therebetween an interior space for an electrical power storage medium, and inner electrodes removably-mounted between the pair of outer electrodes so as to be in electrically conductive contact with the electrical power storage medium and configured to provide mechanical support for the electrical power storage medium and to be removable as a unit therewith from the cell. The cell is a metal-gas battery cell and the electrical power storage medium contained in the interior space contains a slurry containing active porous zinc particles saturated with an electrolyte solution. The outer electrodes define an opening communicating with the interior space, and the inner electrodes are configured for their removal from the interior space, via the opening, thereby enabling the simultaneous removal of the inner electrodes and the slurry from the interior space.

  • Patent number: 4278707
Abstract: By sealing the periphery of a printed circuit board, the previously exposed edges of the board are substantially prevented from moisture wicking. This sealing of the periphery can be made concurrently with the plating of through-holes on the board. With this process, current leakage paths due to board moisture wicking within the board is significantly reduced.

  • Patent number: 4242693
Abstract: In a transistor circuit a linear relationship between V.sub.BE and temperature is obtained by using high base sheet resistivity devices, such as super beta NPN transistors, or lateral PNP transistors. Alternatively, high base sheet resistivity devices are fabricated having a non-linear V.sub.BE vs. temperature relationship that is matched to the non-linear V.sub.BE vs. temperature relationship of NPN devices and/or the non-linear resistivity of diffused resistors over temperature, such that the sum or difference of the non-linear terms will exactly cancel, providing a linear voltage vs. temperature relationship for the circuit as a whole.
