Patent number: 10648163Abstract: A sensor assembly for controlling a flow of water through a faucet includes a shank and a head. The shank is configured to pass through an aperture in a wall and terminates at a flange at a first end of the shank. The head is configured to be coupled to the shank. The head includes a base, a top portion, and circuitry. The base has a first side configured to be supported by a first side of the wall and a second side configured to interface with a first side of the flange. The base includes an opening configured to receive the flange and a hole configured to receive a portion of the shank. The circuitry is configured to be positioned between the cover and a second side of the flange opposite the first side of the flange. The circuitry interfaces with the second side of the flange.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2017Date of Patent: May 12, 2020Assignee: KOHLER CO.Inventors: Joseph Blake, Perry Erickson, John Esche, Steve Radder, Ross Ristow, Joseph Stauber

Patent number: 9816257Abstract: A sensor assembly for controlling a solenoid valve, the solenoid valve controlling the flow of water through a faucet, is described. The sensor assembly includes a head including a bottom portion configured to be supported by a wall and a top portion. The sensor assembly also includes a proximity sensor including a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter projects a beam into a detection zone. The sensor assembly also includes processing electronics configured to cause the solenoid valve to open in response to a receiver detecting a reflection from an object in the detection zone.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2014Date of Patent: November 14, 2017Assignee: KOHLER CO.Inventors: Joseph Blake, Perry Erickson, John Esche, Steve Radder, Ross Ristow, Joseph Stauber

Publication number: 20060009790Abstract: An instrument for applying clips in surgery having an operating handle with operating components and a clip cartridge with clip applying mechanism. The handle operating components generate reciprocal linear motion imparted to the clip applying mechanism and accommodate rotation of the cartridge about a cartridge axis. An anti-backup mechanism constrains operating components to complete first and second strokes of reciprocal linear motion.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2005Publication date: January 12, 2006Inventors: Joseph Blake, Kenneth Lisk

Patent number: RE36054Abstract: A disposable cartridge for measuring the physical properties of blood is disclosed. A waste compartment supports a platform having first and second syringe fittings. First and second syringes containing blood samples to be measured are positioned within the fittings. At least one testing station is located on the platform for subjecting blood flowing from one of the syringes to a test station, and the testing station is connected at a second end to the waste compartment. Tests on blood running through each of the blood channels may be conducted by inducing various platelet activation conditions, such as piercing a channel, or putting a platelet activating substance within a test channel. The cartridge interfaces with a test stand which will measure pressure changes within each of the test channels.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1996Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Assignee: XYLUM CorporationInventors: Joseph Blake, Robert P.
