  • Publication number: 20210022530
Abstract: A cup or glass design that prevents both slipping and tipping. The cup is shaped so that its bottom has both a region of high friction and a region of low friction. The region of high friction can be a set of small rubber feet or the like. The region of low friction can be the smooth cup surface. The two regions are juxtapositioned so that when the cup is sitting flat in its normal resting position, the region of high friction makes contact with the surface; however, if the cup is tipped, the region of high friction lifts off the surface allowing the region of low friction to contact the surface. This then causes the partially-tipped cup to slide rather than tip over. As it slides away from the source of the tipping force, the cup will then right itself by gravity and return to the normal resting position.

  • Publication number: 20200253400
Abstract: a regular, spoutless cup that provides more of the convenience of bottles and sippy cups to parents looking to wean their children off or avoid spouts from bottles and sippy cups. The cup has a lid, a body and optional legs. The lid has squeeze tabs that allow removal from the body portion. The lid and the body cooperate to provide flow control through at least one hole in the lid leading to the spout and at least one hole in a cover over the body. By rotating the lid and either alighing or not aligning the holes, the user can achieve flow control. The optional legs are attached to a ring that fits on the body. The legs can be laterally concave to provide superior properties that prevent tipping.

  • Publication number: 20190191246
Abstract: A system for delivering sound that includes portable wireless speakers or wireless headphones that connect with a smart mobile device using short range communication. Each speaker is also able to connect wirelessly to other speakers. The collection of these connections form an intra-speaker peer-to-peer network. Within the network there can be one or more audio broadcasts provided by one or more smartphones or other mobile devices. Some speakers have phones connected to them and some speakers do not. Speakers may be tuned to play different content being broadcast from other speakers that are streaming content from smartphones. The invention provides a user interface that allows a user to easily and intuitively navigate through the numerous connection possibilities. The invention also makes connecting to the ad hoc mobile network or switching between different audio streams within the network as intuitive and simple as possible for users.

  • Publication number: 20180322554
Abstract: A system and method for giving a physical gift such as a coffee cup, item of clothing or jewelry to another with an associated website that contains information about the gift. A gift item has a unique identification stamped or permanently printed on it. Each gift item can also have the URL of a webpage as well. Upon gifting the item, extra data such as wishes, photos and the like may be logically attached to the particular physical gift through the website. Any owner of the gift, past, current or future will be able to access all of the information concerning that particular gift. The invention encourages recipients to contribute their own pictures and commentary thereby facilitating communications back to the gift giver like a chain letter that provides feedback to the original letter writer inducing them and new recipients to continue to participate in the gift giving cycle.

  • Publication number: 20180125273
Abstract: A tip-resistant cup with handle having at least three external extended legs that prevent tip-overs. The external legs extend down to the surface the cup being placed on to provide support from three different directions. In addition, any of the legs can be used has a handle. Cups of the present invention can be stacked like other cups by simply rotating the position of the legs. The cup of the present invention can also have a curved lip to further prevent spilling when the user is drinking.

  • Publication number: 20180000692
Abstract: A smart pillbox with a basic weighing scale that provides an easy, accurate and robust mechanism to monitor the removal of pills using weight, without modifying the behavior of patients. When connected to a small, inexpensive computing device and clock/timing device, it can easily record the removal of pills. With the addition of a light, such as an LED, or a display, it can provide a visual notification as a reminder to take pills, as well as when pills were last taken. With the addition of a loudspeaker or other sound-generator, the notification can be audible with a variety of notification sounds or alarms that designate time pills should be taken.

  • Publication number: 20160378431
Abstract: Once an audio prompt has been stored on the portable media device, the audio prompt menu is played. Subsequently, an input from a user of the portable media device is then received in response to the audio prompt menu. A command is subsequently transmitted to a remote computer. The command requests the remote computer to perform an action based on the user's input The portable media device includes a portable media device housing containing a processor, a power source, a user interface device, communications circuitry, at least one input/output (i/o) port, and a memory. The memory includes an operating system, a media database, communication procedures for communicating with a remote computer, and instructions for performing the above described method.

  • Patent number: 9305060
Abstract: A request is received from a user to perform a contextual search based on a media file or metadata for the media file. A type of the media file is determined. A contextual search menu is presented to the user. A selected contextual search query type selected from the contextual search menu is received from the user. One or more search modules each associated with one or more content sources are queried to determine which one or more search modules can perform the selected contextual search query type. A request is generated for one or more search modules that can perform the selected contextual search query type to perform the selected contextual search query type against one or more selected content sources associated with the one or more search modules. Search results are received from the one or more search modules, wherein the search results include links to one or more files associated with the one or more content sources. The search results are displayed to the user.

  • Patent number: 9202525
Abstract: A portable media playing device incorporating a menu structure. The device includes a display mechanism, a navigation database, including a navigation record with a navigation description, and an action database, including an action record with an action description. The action database is customizable. A display driver displays the navigation description. When the navigation description is selected, the display driver displays the action description. When the action description is selected, a digital synchronization system generates an extra action request (EAR) record that includes an action identifier and action data for storage in an EAR database. When the device is synchronized with a computer, a synchronization manager accesses the EAR database and updates the action database with any new action records.

  • Patent number: 9172787
Abstract: A system for, and method of intelligently silencing a mobile telephone, allowing the user to avoid unnecessary interruptions while sleeping or engaged in other activities and while still allowing necessary or urgent notifications to be received. The invention provides a method for creating a “do not disturb” mode on a mobile phone, which provides an explicit mechanism which can allow certain designated callers to override the “do not disturb” mode. When the phone is in “do not disturb” mode, an option is typically provided which allows the phone owner to designate certain contacts for different treatment upon receipt of a call or message.
