Patent number: 9207755Abstract: A system provides a user an interactive graphic software interface to navigate to an image representative of any particular emotion from within a matrix containing representations of a continuous range of emotional states. The user can then send the selected image to one or more other users or to aggregator servers in order to communicate emotions or to tag or rate various things with emotional significance, so that quantitative statistics on emotional significance can be computed for those things. The system can also be used to track emotional state through a range of time periods or geospatial locations.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2012Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Iconicast, LLCInventors: Patrick Joseph Byrnes, Steven Carl Landers

Publication number: 20110023501Abstract: This invention relates to methods and systems for reliable ultra-high purity (UHP) helium gas supply and maintaining dedicated onsite inventory. Specifically, the invention employs multiple ISO containers whereby vaporized UHP helium in the standby ISO container(s) is used to build-up pressure in the online ISO container. The thermal shields of the ISO containers can be used to decrease heat leaks into the backup ISO container thereby decreasing helium vaporation rate and the amount of gas needed to be withdrawn in order to maintain the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) of the vessel. An even lower supply rate is possible by drawing UHP helium gas using an economizer valve but maintaining liquid in the ISO container. This makes it possible to efficiently manage the supply rate, from low flows to higher flow requirements, and to optimize UHP helium draw rate from the storage vessels.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2009Publication date: February 3, 2011Inventors: Thomas Robert SCHULTE, John Joseph BYRNE, Michael Clinton JOHNSON, Shrikar CHAKRAVARTI, Kwamina BEDU-AMISSAH

Patent number: 7840756Abstract: An improved RAID storage system adapted to selectively and automatically store the same data “in tandem” using two different storage profiles. In one embodiment, a first store operation occurs in accordance with first storage profile and, if a flag in the first storage profile is set, a second store operation automatically occurs in accordance with a second storage profile but with the same data as stored in the first store operation. The first and second storage profiles are stored sequentially in profile registers within a controller in the storage system. To speed the tandem operation, the data may be held in a re-readable FIFO buffer in the controller. The buffer is sized to hold the minimum size of data that can be stored to the physical disks in the storage system. Preferably, the size of the buffer is substantially equal to the minimum size.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: November 23, 2010Assignee: Agere Systems Inc.Inventor: Richard Joseph Byrne
