  • Publication number: 20020139737
Abstract: An oil pan containing a magnetic filter apparatus includes an oil pan member having a magnet assembly reception channel. A magnetic filter assembly is received in the magnet assembly reception channel, and attachment means are provided for attaching the magnetic filter assembly to the oil pan member. The magnetic filter assembly separates ferro-magnetic particles from oil in the oil pan member and traps the separated particles on the magnetic filter assembly. The magnetic filter assembly includes a magnet support unit which is attachable to the attachment means. A magnet unit is supported by the magnet support unit. The magnet unit provides a high magnetic flux region to circulating oil in the vicinity of an oil pump intake tube for trapping metal particles on the magnetic filter assembly. The magnet unit includes a plurality of individual magnets arrayed in highly cohesive relationship.

  • Publication number: 20010052489
Abstract: A magnetic oil filtering apparatus includes a magnetic assembly apparatus which includes a magnet assembly base plate which includes base plate oil flow channels and an internally threaded connection channel for mounting on an externally threaded mounting. A magnetic assembly housing is connected to the magnet assembly base plate. A magnet module is connected to the magnetic assembly housing. The magnet assembly base plate can be connected to an oil filter mounting stem or a magnetic assembly mounting stem on an engine block. The magnet module can be mounted on a top or side portion of the magnetic assembly housing. Inside the magnetic assembly housing, an inlet-to-magnet-area flow director can be provided. The inlet-to-magnet-area flow director directs oil flow to the portion of the magnetic assembly housing which is adjacent to the mounted magnet module.

  • Patent number: 5510024
Abstract: A magnet assembly or attachment for magnetically collecting metallic particles within a filter. The inventive device includes a pair of magnets supported in a spaced relationship by a carrier which latter is positionable along an exterior of a filter cartridge. The carrier serves the dual function of a heat sink. A shunt couples opposite poles of the magnets together to increase the magnetic flux directed into the filter cartridge to separate and retain metallic particles from the filtered fluid.

  • Patent number: 5273648
Abstract: A filter cartridge includes a plurality of permanent magnet block members mounted in surrounding relationship relative to the filter cartridge, with each block including a concave front wall in confrontation to the filter cartridge side wall, and each block member including a rear wall having at least one rear wall strap receiving a flexible belt, wherein the flexible belt is directed through each of the rear wall straps to secure the magnetic block members together.
