  • Publication number: 20080194361
Abstract: The present invention provides a base with improved internal structure for impact absorption and deflection. The base of the present invention includes a plurality of indentations rising from the bottom surface to varying heights. Each of the indentations has a closed top end and an internal surface. The cross section of the indentations is often generally circular or generally rectangular. The indentations are arranged so that the tallest is nearest the mid point of the base and the shortest actually form side surfaces of the base. A second embodiment includes a top surface and a clearance between the top surface and the closed top ends of the indentations.

  • Patent number: 6261194
Abstract: Football practice equipment which can be in the form of a one-man tackling sled or a multiple-man blocking sled equipped with connecting apparatus. By connecting tackling sleds together, a blocking sled can be created upon which is mounted the desired number of dummies for use in training football players in the art of blocking and tackling, individually or in team formations. The tackling sleds are connected together to form multiple dummy blocking sleds by attaching connecting members between as many of the tackling sleds as desired. The connection between the tackling sleds is made via channel members on the tackling sleds with locking handles for securing the connecting members in their associated channel members.

  • Patent number: 5984809
Abstract: A blocking dummy is provided which is abrasion resistant, self-supporting, and resistant to lateral displacement relative to the ground. A bottom cap provided with cleats is rotationally molded of an abrasion resistant substantially rigid material and secured to a blocking dummy. In use, the cleats engage the ground to provide self-supporting stability. The cleats also provide resistance to lateral displacement of the dummy along the ground when the dummy is impacted. Additionally, the abrasion resistance of the bottom cap allows the blocking dummy to be dragged across the ground with little or no damage from abrasion.

  • Patent number: 5146621
Abstract: A shoulder pad comprising a left-hand member which fits over the left shoulder and a right-hand member which fits over the right shoulder. Each of the members is of generally inverted U-shape as viewed from the side and has a chestplate portion, a backplate portion and an arch connecting the plate portions, the arches being laterally spaced to provide an opening for the neck of the wearer. Each of the members is fabricated from lightweight synthetic resin sheet material having a corrugated central layer formed with parallel corrugations, and a pair of generally parallel outer layers forming opposite exterior surfaces of the sheet material. The corrugations are resiliently deformable upon application of an impact load to the sheet material to attenuate the shock of the impact load on the wearer.
