  • Patent number: 4475377
Abstract: Apparatus for use in calibrating a meter having an outer tubular housing closed at each end, a reduced diameter and reduced length inner tubular barrel supported within the outer house providing an annular space between the exterior of the barrel and the interior of the housings, two spaced apart ports in the housing communicating with the annular area, an annular flange secured to the interior wall of the housing having an opening therein receiving the barrel and an annular flange between the exterior of the barrel and the interior of the housing--dividing the annular space into two portions, the annular flange being arranged so that the barrel may be easily and expeditiously removed while ensuring that no leakage occurs past the flange, a free piston in the barrel and piston detection switches spaced apart on the barrel providing means of indicating passage of precise amount of gas or liquid through the barrel.

  • Patent number: 4188015
Abstract: A ball valve having improved sealing capability, which has a conventional housing, with a flow opening, and means for positioning and rotating the ball inside of the housing. There is at least one metal seal ring which is positioned and sealed inside of the housing, in a position where it is coaxial with the flow opening through the housing. It has a conical surface which includes a resilient seat ring, which faces and is spaced a selected distance from the surface of the ball. The ball has at least one circular wire ring, made of a selected diameter of wire. The ring is attached and sealed to the surface of the ball as a circular ridge in such a position that when the valve is closed the ridge will be coaxial with the seal ring and will penetrate into the surface of the resilient seat ring a selected distance in order to create sufficient internal pressure to seal against fluid pressure in the flow opening through the valve.

  • Patent number: 4168413
Abstract: A piston detector switch adapted to be positioned on a pipe having an orifice in the wall thereof which may be briefly described as comprising a plate securable to the pipe having a bore extending therethrough in open communication with the pipe orifice, a valve seat positioned in the bore adjacent the pipe surface, a ball loosely positioned in the bore, having a diameter such that a portion of the ball normally protrudes within the pipe interior when seated, a housing sealably secured to the plate having a duct extending therethrough in open communication with the bore, and magnetically responsive switch means disposed in said duct for signalling movement of the ball from the seated position and for preventing fluid leakage from said duct.

  • Patent number: 4150694
Abstract: An improved rotary plug valve which has a housing having an axial, tapered inner wall forming a tapered inner cavity, with a plurality of radial openings in a transverse plane, at selected angles, leading into the tapered inner cavity. A rotatable tapered plug is adapted to fit inside the tapered cavity, and having "0" ring seal means to seal the outer surface of the plug to the inner wall of the housing. Selected conduits through the plug provide means to control flow of liquid entering one or more of the openings in the housing, to flow through the plug to other selected openings, dependent on the anular position of the plug. The cavity is closed by top and bottom closures. The rotor has an axial shaft, by means of which it can be rotated exteriorly of the valve, by the passage of the shaft up through the center of the top closure.
