  • Patent number: 4454048
Abstract: The separability of latex floc dispersed in water is improved by adding a small proportion of portland cement thereto.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 1983
Date of Patent: June 12, 1984
    Assignee: SCM Corporation
Inventors: Richard T. Brunbeck, Joseph C. Sherwood
  • Patent number: 4383928
Abstract: Dilute, aqueous waste dispersions of ionized film-forming resins are flocculated with Portland cement, and the resulting floc is allowed to consolidate for disposal. The consolidated floc is suitable for landfill or other use.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 8, 1982
Date of Patent: May 17, 1983
    Assignee: SCM Corporation
Inventors: Joseph C. Sherwood, Richard T. Brunbeck
  • Patent number: 4312759
Abstract: A process for producing leach-resistant consolidate from the slack sludge precipitated from the flocculating of dilute aqueous latex paint waste is shown. It comprises: rapidly heating said slack sludge with agitation to a temperature which at least approaches the boiling point of the water present in said sludge; settling the resulting heated mixture into a consolidate fraction and a serum fraction; and separating said fractions. Such consolidate can be used for landfill, structural units, or dispersed as a component of a paint.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 1980
Date of Patent: January 26, 1982
    Assignee: SCM Corporation
Inventors: Joseph C. Sherwood, Brunbeck, Richard T.
