  • Publication number: 20100147231
Abstract: An electrolyser system produces combustion enhancing gas for communication with the intake of an internal combustion engine. An anode and a cathode are supported spaced apart from one another in a chamber filled with electrolytic solution with the cathode and the anode being nearest one another adjacent a bottom end of the chamber to concentrate the electrolysis activity adjacent the bottom end of the chamber. The electrolysis activity is therefore not significantly affected by varying levels of solution in the chamber. The anode comprises a plurality of independent units with respective independent power supplies. An amperage control selectively connects and disconnects the power supplies with the respective independent units of the anode for adjusting applied amperage across the solution and accordingly for varying the production rate of combustion enhancing gas responsive to engine demands.

  • Publication number: 20020055899
Abstract: A system and method for displaying and organizing highly complex and voluminous financial information pertaining to stock market trading activity on a computer display terminal in a manner that permits an individual to easily monitor and assimilate the information. The system forms a visual display which organizes and presents the trading information for a selected stock in a number of independent regions on a computer display terminal. A user can choose to display information pertaining to a number of user-defined stocks from a plurality of tabs along an upper edge of the display. For any stock selected, ask and bid sales and volume information for all of the auction participants for the selected stock can be displayed along with post trade information. Other significant information pertaining the trading positions of the auction participants is readily discernable from changes in color of the tabs designating those auction participants.

  • Patent number: 4989946
Abstract: A fiber optic switch is formed using cylindrical or biconic fibers optic connector components for axially aligning pairs of fibers to be switched. The ferrules of the connector are rotatably mounted within an alignment sleeve, such that a pair of fibers in a first ferrule may be rotated relative to a pair of fibers mounted in a second ferrule to effect a bypass switch operation. Various forms of switch actuators, including rotary and linear actuators, are disclosed, along with fail-safe arrangements.

  • Patent number: 4485122
Abstract: A metallic material coating is applied to the external surface of a freshly drawn optical fiber while such surface is still pristine by passing the optical fiber through a body of liquid metal-organic material which forms a layer on the fiber, and by subsequently removing all non-metallic components from the layer of metal-organic material by volatilizing the same. The optical fiber with the layer metal-organic material is passed through a baking oven in which at least the layer is heated to a baking temperature at which organic materials present in the metal-organic material are volatilized and the remainder is baked to the fiber. Then, at least the layer is fired in a firing chamber at a higher temperature at which the metal-organic material is decomposed into its volatile non-metallic and non-volatile metallic components, the latter remaining in the layer and the former becoming volatile and leaving the layer.

  • Patent number: 4321300
Abstract: A solar energy collector having improved absorptance and emissivity levels comprising: (1) a silver-copper oxide-rhodium oxide solar absorption film, (2) a cerium oxide interlayer and a substrate of quartz, silica glass or metal. The cerium oxide interlayer minimizes agglomeration of the metal particles, maintains a relatively low thermal emittance and improves overall stability.
