  • Publication number: 20100026783
Abstract: A method and apparatus for encoding or tagging a video frame provides a way to indicate, to a receiver, for example, whether the video content is 3-D content or 2-D content. A method and apparatus for decoding an encoded or tagged video frame provides a way, for a receiver, for example, to determine whether the video content is 3-D content or 2-D content. 3-D video data may be encoded by replacing lines of at least one video frame with a specific color or pattern. When a decoder detects the presence of the colored or patterned lines in an image frame, it may interpret them as an indicator that 3-D video data is present.

  • Publication number: 20090184890
Abstract: A method and system for use in conjunction with a push-pull liquid crystal modulator system for creating circularly polarized light of alternating handedness is provided. The method and system comprise a pair of surface mode liquid crystal cells and a driver electrically coupled to the cells. The driver is configured to move an electrical charge using a quenching pulse comprising a relatively brief voltage spike at a beginning of a waveform period. Multiple additional improvements are provided, including reducing the thickness of the LC gap (the distance between cell electrode plates), creating a charge connection or wiring connection to the cell electrodes, employing anti-reflection coating technology, thinner ITO and ITO index matched to the LC material, bonding all possible air to material surfaces, using superior glass, employing more efficient polarizers, and reducing projector blanking time.

  • Publication number: 20080062259
Abstract: An active eyewear method and system for viewing stereoscopic images is provided. The eyewear comprises polarization altering elements, such as twisted nematics or super twisted nematics, configured to receive light energy and rotate the polarization of light energy passing therethrough, and linear polarizers having polarization axes oriented in substantially identical orientations orthogonal to the first axis of polarization. The linear polarizers receive light energy from the polarization altering elements. The method comprises transmitting light energy through a sheet polarizer having an first axis of polarization, receiving the light energy with two polarization altering elements, each polarization altering operating out of phase with the other and in synchrony with a video field rate associated with the transmitting, and passing the light energy through two linear polarizers having substantially identical axes of polarization orthogonal to the first axis of polarization.

  • Patent number: 7142786
Abstract: A digital data network uses network nodes incorporating infrared transceivers. Each node includes a plurality of infrared transceivers having transmitter and receiver optics designed to facilitate line-of-sight infrared optical communications in a residential or business neighborhood. New nodes are installed with at least one selected transceiver having line-of-sight access to at least one existing transceiver. Automated tracking and acquisition processes are used to align transceivers to enable data communication and to acquire newly installed nodes into the network. Other automated tracking programs operate on an as-needed or scheduled basis to maintain good alignment and communications between adjoining node transceivers. Network nodes include weather-proof housings and are of a size and shape to be easily mounted on existing structures so as not to disrupt the visual appeal of a neighborhood.

  • Publication number: 20060165416
Abstract: A digital data network (100) uses network nodes (106) incorporating infrared transceivers (108). Each node (106) includes a plurality of infrared transceivers (108) having transmitter (109) and receiver (111) optics designed to facilitate line-of-sight infrared optical communications in a residential or business neighborhood. New nodes (106) are installed with at least one selected transceiver (108) having line-of-sight access to at least one existing transceiver (108). Automated tracking (370, 400, 500) and acquisition (300) processes are used to align transceivers (108) to enable data communication and to acquire newly installed nodes (108) into the network (100). Other automated tracking programs operate on an as-needed or scheduled basis to maintain good alignment and communications between adjoining node transceivers (108). • Publication number: 20040015821
Abstract: A system and method for an interactive, collaborative process and project management computer system maps a process instance, operatively connected to a stand alone workflow tool, to a project instance and maps the project instance, operatively connected to a stand alone project management tool, to the process instance. These coordinated mappings are performed automatically, interchangeably, and synchronously in real time. The collaborative process and project management allows for event and condition driven interactions between a stand alone workflow tool and a stand alone project management tool without imposing a centralized integrated database upon these tools.
