Patent number: 10355406Abstract: A connector system according to some embodiments of the disclosure includes first and second connectors. Each connector includes a housing, a terminal retainer having electrical terminals that are connected to a cable mounted therein. The housings are configured to mate together. One connector includes a locking protrusion on the housing, a first sleeve which is moveable relative to the housing, a second sleeve attached to the first sleeve and which is moveable relative to the first sleeve and relative to the housing, and a biasing member mounted between the first housing and the second sleeve. The biasing member is configured to bias the first and second sleeves toward a mating end. The housing of the second connector has a flexible finger configured to cause movement of the second sleeve relative to the first sleeve and further configured to releasably engage the locking protrusion on the first housing.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2017Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: Molex, LLCInventors: Jeffrey Joniak, Ronald C. Hodge, Joseph D. Comerci

Patent number: 9711920Abstract: A connecter system is configured for macro motion. Two mating terminals are configured so that during macro motion cycles, the resistance between two terminals does not substantially increase. One terminal can have multiple, somewhat spherical-shaped mating surfaces while a mating surface on the other terminal can be flat. The mating terminals can be configured to provide desirable resistance performance after more than 5000 cycles of macro motion.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2016Date of Patent: July 18, 2017Assignees: Molex, LLC, Dow Global Technologies LLCInventors: Ronald C. Hodge, Jinjie Shi, Joseph D. Comerci, Steven J. Rozeveld, Timothy R. Gregori, Narayan Ramesh, Karen Samiec

Patent number: 9634417Abstract: A connector is disclosed including a housing and a pair of terminals. Each terminal includes a planar body portion and a planar mounting portion formed at the first end of the body portion with a bent contacting portion disposed therebetween. A wire securing portion is formed at the second end of the body portion with a pair of crimping portions to secure the wire to the terminal. The body portion and the mounting portion are received in a slot formed in the housing with the contacting portion extending through a window formed in the housing and the terminal mounting portion being translatable within the slot.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2014Date of Patent: April 25, 2017Assignee: Molex, LLCInventors: Nrupathunga Chakravarthy Somanathapura Ramanna, Krishna Prasad Darbal Somanath, Chamarajanagar Gopala Raghavan, Nyshil Belaay Pulukool, Joseph D. Patent number: 9209559Abstract: A connector system includes a first connector with a housing. The housing supports a terminal with an aperture that is positioned adjacent a pocket. A ball is positioned in the pocket and is restrained by the terminal but is configured to partially extend through the aperture. A second connector includes a contact and a magnet attraction member. In operation, when the first and second connector are in a mated position, the ball is urged toward the magnetic attraction member due to a magnetic force and partially extends through the aperture so as to engage the contact, electrically connecting the terminal and the contact.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2012Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Molex, LLCInventors: Ronald C. Hodge, Victor Zaderej, Joseph D. Comerci
