  • Publication number: 20220039421
Abstract: The invention provides a method for enhancing flavour profile of beverages comprising increasing perceptibility of sweetness, increasing acidity, and decreasing astringent taste in beverages, increasing perceptibility of floral and spice notes by adding an effective flavour enhancing amount of water-soluble Palm Fruit Bioactive complex (wsPFBc/OPP) or their extracts into a beverage is disclosed a composition comprising a beverage and oil palm phenolics (OPP) or their extracts such that the OPP or their extracts modify or alter the fragrance and flavour of the beverage.

  • Patent number: 7992102
Abstract: A method and system for processing user information are described. A graphical user interface is provided to include a display region, a first bounded region circumferentially surrounding the display region, and a second bounded region circumferentially surrounding the first bounded region. The first bounded region may include one or more first-type graphical user interface elements with each of the first-type graphical user interface elements selectively mapped to one or more first-type display data. The second bounded region may include one or more second-type graphical user interface elements with each of the second-type graphical user interface elements selectively mapped to one or more second-type display data. A user input is received using the graphical user interface, and a result is generated based at least on a user activation of at least one of the first-type and second-type graphical user interface elements.

  • Patent number: 6350729
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for the prophylaxis or treatment of an animal for deleterious physiological effects such as systemic hypotension caused by nitric oxide production induced by a biological response modifier. Examples of such biological response modifiers include but are not limited to a cytokine and an endotoxin. The invention is also directed to a method for the treatment of septic shock.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 2000
Date of Patent: February 26, 2002
Assignees: Board of Regents, The University of Texas System, Apex Bioscience, Inc., Duke University
Inventors: Robert G. Kilbourn, Joseph De Angelo, Joseph Bonaventura
  • Patent number: 6172039
Abstract: The invention is directed to a substantially pure mammalian globin chain or heme-binding fragment thereof. The invention is further directed to recombinant DNA vectors capable of expressing at least one globin chain or substantially homologous variant thereof in yeast. The invention also relates to methods for expressing at least one globin chain or substantially homologous variant thereof in yeast. Expressed alpha-like globin and beta-like globin chains or variants thereof may be combined with a source of heme to produce hemoglobin or a substantially homologous variant thereof. Additionally, expressed gamma-globin chains may be combined with a source of heme to produce hemoglobin or a substantially homologous variant thereof. The invention also relates to methods for expressing hemoglobin or variants thereof in yeast where the heme is produced by the yeast and ligated to globins to form hemoglobin in vivo.
