  • Patent number: 6913533
Abstract: A gaming device having a bonus game with an adjacent selection feature. In one embodiment of the present invention, the gaming device provides a plurality of adjacent player selectable selections. An award is associated with each player selectable selection. The award associated with each selectable selection is not initially displayed or revealed to the player. The player selectable selections are arranged or grouped into a plurality of associated or related selection sets. In one embodiment, each selection set has a different number of player selectable selections. In one embodiment, the related plurality of selection sets are arranged adjacent to each other to enable each player selectable selection in one set to be adjacent to at least one player selectable selection from another selection set. The player's pick in each selection set limits the available selections in the subsequent selection sets.

  • Patent number: 6905406
Abstract: A gaming device including a plurality of reels or cards having several symbols. The symbols include at least two complimentary wild symbols that form resultant wild symbols on related reels or cards. In one embodiment, the resultant wild symbol is similar to a wild symbol and acts as a substitute for other symbols on the reels or cards. In another embodiment, the resultant wild symbol transforms adjacent symbols into wild symbols or other symbols on the reels or cards. In a further embodiment, the resultant wild symbol transforms a predetermined or random number of symbols on the reels or cards into wild symbols or other symbols.

  • Patent number: 6899620
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and gaming device having a multiple selection and award distribution bonus scheme. A selection is chosen from a group of selections. The present invention determines awards for distribution to the selection. Once determined, the awards are distributed to the selection and a player is provided with the awards. The present invention preferably utilizes a number of award pools in order to determine the award distribution. This award pool determination is based on, for example, a number of probability tables associated with the award pools. In one embodiment, the player's award is increased if the player picks the award associated with the player's selection.

  • Patent number: 6890254
Abstract: A gaming device that provides a second or replicating display that is an enlarged, preferably simulated replica of the actual display of the reels, paylines and indicia of the paystops of the gaming device. The second or replicating display can exactly recreate the actual rotation or random generation of the reels, represent the random generation of the reels, and do so by providing a slight delay. The present invention also contains a method by which the replicating display presents each of a plurality of award generating or winning paylines individually and sequentially for a predetermined amount of time before culminating in a display of the accumulated winning paylines. The method enables the player to easily see the source of an award, which would otherwise be difficult to discern from a multitude of paylines.

  • Patent number: 6866583
Abstract: The present invention provides a gaming device having wild indicator symbols associated with symbols displayed within a display device on a set of reels. The wild indicator symbols may also be associated with a card or plurality of cards within a display device. A processor determines whether the wild indicators will be associated with the symbols or cards and also determines if the wild indicators will be activated. If the wild indicators are activated, the processor transforms those symbols or cards associated with the wild indicators into wild symbols or wild cards.

  • Patent number: 6852027
Abstract: The present invention provides a gaming device having a game that may be implemented in a primary or bonus game. More specifically, the present invention provides a processor controlled gaming device that presents a plurality of masked value choices to the player, provides a time period in which the player can elect to accept a masked choice and reveals and provides a value associated with the choice to the player if the player accepts in time. If the player does not accept in time or decides not to accept the choice, the gaming device, in one preferred embodiment, reveals the value the player could have accepted when the time period lapses or times out. When the player has successfully accepted a predefined number of masked choices, the game adds or multiplies the values yielded by the choices to form an award for the player.

  • Publication number: 20040266512
Abstract: A gaming device including a video display containing multiple or split screens displayed at one time. Each of the screens displays indicia relating to a single event and thus each of the screens preferably displays indicia relating to the other screens of the display. The screens preferably present the event a chronological or otherwise sequential manner. The screens can show different views of the event occurring at one time of the event and can show the same view of different times of the event in one display. At some point, in accordance with the event or theme of the bonus round, the game provides an award to the player in such a way that is exciting to the player. The game can employ one or more of the screens in awarding the player, wherein one or more screens displays the award, and wherein other screens celebrate the award.

  • Publication number: 20040248640
Abstract: A gaming device including a first and second indicator plate which are adjacent to each other and on the same axis where the second plate overlaps at least a portion of the first plate and the first and second plates are in different planes. In one embodiment, the first plate includes at least one symbol where one or more awards are associated with the symbol. The second plate is composed of a substantially transparent material, which enables a player to see through at least a portion of the second plate to view one or more symbols on the first plate. The second plate also includes a plurality of sections, which indicate one or more symbols on the first plate. In one embodiment, the gaming device enables a player to select one or more of the sections on the second plate to indicate a symbol or symbols on the first plate.

  • Publication number: 20040242307
Abstract: A gaming device and method for enhancing an award or a transfer of a plurality of credits. The gaming device and method initially displays one or more audio and visual signals as the device begins to transfer gaming device credits. At certain points, preferably in accordance with the gaming device theme, the device selectively adds one or more visual and audio signals to the original display, as the device transfers more and more credits. The method of adding consecutive layers of sound and visual displays creates denser, richer and more complex displays that associates with larger amounts of accumulated credits. The method contemplates basing the set points on a predetermined amount of time, or a percentage of total credits transferred or on a number of credits transferred. Preferably, when the final credit is issued, the gaming device and method provides a final sound and visual display, which terminates the previously built up layers and brings the credit accumulation to its conclusion.

  • Patent number: 6811483
Abstract: The present invention includes a method for operation a gaming device and preferably a bonus round of said device, whereby the game provides the player an initial sequence which results in a successful or unsuccessful outcome. If the player obtains a successful outcome, the player may use an award provided by obtaining said successful outcome. In a subsequent sequence wherein the player can selectively keep an award or attempt to sequentially exchange or trade up to a point or award total that enables the player to obtain a final and desirable ultimate award. The player preferably knows the existence of the ultimate award, and the present invention preferably discloses or reveals the value of the player's currently held or currently obtained award. The game can also reveal the value of the intermediate award steps as the player decides to go for the ultimate award or settle for the currently held award. The game preferably provides a consolation award to a player upon an unsuccessful exchange.

Abstract: A gaming device that provides a player with an opportunity to maximize a gaming device award. The gaming device presents the player with a display having a plurality of symbols and enables the player to choose one or more of the symbols. The game reveals the award(s) associated with the selected symbols but does not reveal which awards are associated with which symbols. • Publication number: 20040198489
Abstract: A gaming device that enables a player to choose or alter certain symbols displayed on the reels of the gaming device. The player can change or select the changeable symbol at any time as long as the reels are not in motion. The gaming device maintains the change until the player changes the symbol again. The gaming device preferably supplies a touch screen along with a video monitor in which the reels and associated stops are simulated. The touch screen enables the player to simply touch the symbol that the player wishes to change. Pressing a single symbol may change the selected symbol or others linked to the symbol. A stop on the reels having a selectable symbol can provide the player with any number of possible symbols from which to choose. The changeable symbols preferably have a direct effect upon whether the player obtains a gaming device award.
