    Abstract: A pair of extenders are slidably carried in opposite ends of an elongated hollow-form cargo-engaging member. A latching clip is pivotally mounted on each of the extenders adjacent to its outer end and is adapted to releasably engage an E-Track secured to opposing interior walls of a semi-trailer, railroad car or ship's cargo hold. Diametrically opposing latch clip-receiving slots extend inwardly from each end of the cargo-engaging member a distance sufficient to permit the latch to be received within and protected by the cargo-engaging member when not in use. Diametrically opposing latch clip-receiving notches project inwardly from the outer end of each extender a distance sufficient to permit the extender to partially reinforce the latch clip during use without eliminating pivotal movement of the latch clip relative to the extender.

    Abstract: A lift and propulsion system for partial piloting of a pendular effect piloted aircraft having a gliding structure. The system comprises a frame having a frame axis which is parallel to the pitch axis of the aircraft, the frame being rotatable about the frame axis. A pair of engines are supported by the frame and are each provided with throttle valves for controlling the power or speed of such engines. A rotation control lever arm having one end connected to the frame and the other end movably connected to the gliding structure is provided for controlling the rotation of the frame about the frame axis to control the orientation of the thrust of the engines, and a throttle control mechanism is provided for simultaneously and differentially controlling the power of the engines. The throttle control mechanism comprises a handle having a longitudinal axis and a support member for supporting the handle for rotation about such longitudinal axis.

    Abstract: An underwater transducer having both projector and hydrophone elements utilizes a new technique permitting the annular projector rings of a given piezoelectric material and resonant frequency to be tailored in diameter to accommodate various requirements, such as a need for more interior space. Where the projector rings can be expanded to the diameter of an accompanying hydrophone array, this makes possible a more compact and, in particular, a shorter structure than has been used for transducers of similar capability before. In the transducer the projector rings are positioned axially along a central support tube alternating with the hydrophones arranged in annular groups. Each projector ring is formed of a plurality of segments of alternately active material and inactive material having a sound velocity differing from (usually faster than) that of the active material.
