    Abstract: A vacuum switch which is air operated and which has low contact capacitance, low inductance and low DC resistance. The switch has two fixed contacts and a moveable contact, the moveable contact being insulated from the moveable end structure to minimize coupling capacity between the two fixed contacts. A portion of the fixed contact support structure is cut away to minimize capacitance between the support structure and between the support structure and a ceramic body which is part of the switch vacuum envelope, the ceramic body insulating the contacts and the metal portions of the envelope.

    Abstract: A feed-thru type hermetic electrical connector including at least one connector pin feeding through an insulator block within the metallic body of the connector shell. A compression stop arrangement coaxially disposed about the insulator body is brazed to the shell, and the shoulder on the insulator block bears against this top in a compression mode, the high pressure or internal connector being at the opposite end of the shell. Seals between the pin and an internal bore at the high pressure end of the insulator block and between the insulator block and the metallic shell at the high pressure end are hermetically brazed in place, the first of these also functioning to transfer the axial compressive load without permitting appreciable shear action between the pin and insulator block.

The extreme positions include internal stops, which may be contacts, in which case the switch is a single-pole-double-throw device. An attached actuator for the switch device provides tolerance-absorbing overtravel by means of uniquely arranged resilient means, such that switch-gap tolerances are effectively absorbed. The device may be of the magnetically latching type or may, in simplest form, include a single controlling electromagnet and only one fixed contact. Two embodiments are described.
